Now this is just my personal opinion, and I know many disagree with this, but I actually enjoy seeing pics of jeans that are only a few months into wear. It not only gives others ideas of what to possibly expect when breaking in a similar pair but also helps one document their own pair of jeans. Of course it's good to see side by side pics comparing the wear at different months too if possible as well as pics of completely worn out pairs, but sometimes its fun just seeing that little hint of blue as well...

sorry, just thinking out loud, back to the scheduled program...

edit: also...it's nice to see some progress on dry bones vamks...since the contest is coming and all...something like these pics could determine whether I (and other people) wanna be in on the contest or not.

I know you just want to bust some balls but those pictures are atleast interesting, and he wasn't being really offensive towards the other guy, so i don't understand your objection.

And to the worn out awesome APCs, those are really impressive, most APCs just turn a disgusting greyish color.:)

wash every month

Thanks for the documentation.

I love how the color changed so dramaticaly with each wash

And I think you chose the right time to retire them, the color now is the best imo... itll only get washed out with more washes

Did you wear them hard? I would think there wouldnt be THAT much contrast with APCs with that amount of washes and so little time...

Ah, or did you mean, before he washed them?

Correct, right before the wash is what I wanted to see

Oh and grouse allergy, i also thought they were blue but then i saw that he posted something about them being black in the 005 thread. They must be overdyed.

I think you're mixing them up with kennyfromthebronx's pair in the 005 thread. I just rechecked the pictures a few pages ago and they were accompanied by this edit:

"They're the indigo 005s, worn inconsistently since last March (2007). Washed four times, more or less."

Also, I hope you don't think I'm trying to one-up you or anything (I'm not very competitive), I just figured you'd want the truth as much as I do. ;)

(x-post from nearly-nonexistent House of Cassette thread)

I picked up a pair of Cassette Slim Caddy 1909 Raw Vintage jeans (very) on sale from Steady Boutique a while ago. I've been wearing them now maybe 4.5-5 months, and just washed them for the first time:

immediately pre- and post-wash:

(don't mind the horrid home patch-job on the crotch-blowout.... tight jeans + bike-commuting = aerated crotch)

a couple weeks old, and today:

Overall I'm pretty surprised by the high contrast and really vintage-blue color they've come out. There's a pretty fantastic amount of striation in the coloring (as can be seen in the close-up of the lap), whereas they started out pretty flat dark dark blue. I initially bought these because I needed a new pair of jeans, and these were inexpensive enough... but I'm digging on how they're looking now. I just wish I hadn't hemmed them.

Also- these jeans are darted through the thighs (like Somet)... I had to take the darting out pretty early on in order to fit my runner/soccer thighs in there and still be able to move.

Nice work dkatz. Do they have darts in the front, where the extra rivets are?

Skull 5010xx 6x7. I've had these since sometime around the middle of December and they have been worn daily since. Lots of repairs on these and three or four washes. I know in the second picture it looks like my ass is eating them, but it's the combination of my wallet and knife creating that baggage.

Yes yes, these are darted all over the place. There were even darts across the lower leg about 2 inches above the cuff.... but they're gone due to the hemming.

Thanks all for the compliments

Very nice dkatz. Those are Cone denim. The 1909 that Cassette's website refers to is the year 1909. Cone's archives shows a dyeing method utilized in that year when Cone did not yet patent the continuous long chain indigo dyeing method. They basically took the warps and dyed it in a vat. Took them out to dry, then dunked it back in the same vat. This obviously caused striations/streaky shade. It also created a beautiful inconsistency.

This modern shade "1909" uses the continuous long chain dyeing, aka rope dyeing, to pay tribute to the old method. It is Cone's darkest pure indigo out of the USA facility.

One question, is this selvage?
