yes... I know what you meant. My glasses are way heavier than yours, and I cope perfectly fine. Everyone has different tastes though, of course.

I hope your second pair of CG suits you better then. First still looks really good though, real talk.

Thanks. Here's the other pair I'm going to pick up; the Cutler & Gross stores are like glasses porn!!!! So many nice things in there.

Thanks for the fit info. I kind of the expect the fit to be a bit different, but they said they could swap for the Marcello if I wasn't feeling it. I was hoping to find a pic of someone wearing them before ordering, but I guess it'll be a bit of a gamble. Thanks again.

  • 2 weeks later...

i am looking around right now for some classy black frames, black opaque lenses. particularly online . . who is reasonable? i do not wear prescription, but i'm not wanting dark sunglasses, you know?

i am looking for some semi-opaque - more leaning towards clear lenses with some retro black frames - particularly thick>?

Uhh... I don't know what your budget is, but you should consider 80's Purple, OAK NYC might have some, also try American Apparel. I think I know what you are talking about though. Kind of like a gradient lens that you see with rose-colored lenses in sunglasses? But yea, look on those online sites, you might be able to find something...

Looking for some classic black frames. Really like Robert Geller Marcello and Ndg Oliver Peoples, but I don't like the size of them. They are a tad too big for my taste. Anyone got some ideas?

- robert geller marcello/ndg oliver peoples, but just a little smaller

- matte black

- max. $300

Alright, let me know..

how are dita glasses? worth the price tag? My marcellos just broke and i am looking for something similiar to that style just better quality.

The Reserve edition ones are super nice and are made in Japan.

I've seen some questionable frames from them even recently but most of their work now seems to be of a far higher level of quality than it was years ago.

I just got the Statesman and i love em.

from 2006-2008 fw they went from mostly metal pieces and 'thin' acetate pieces to thicker acetates, such as your stateman. it's not like they're not making thin acetates anymore though, and it's not really anything "questionable", it's just a totally different feel.

They've definitely completely changed as a company over the years.

I have a pair of Dita sunglasses from almost ten years ago, around '99.. The quality is crap and they're made in China, granted that was almost ten years ago it's rare to see a company go from really low quality to what they're at now, usually it's the other way around.

lol, that is OG shit. amazing.

Yeah, they retailed for about $100 and i bought them in some corny boutique in Hawaii.

Then almost ten years later Dimitri (from Spectacles for Humans) gets the brand in at the store but the stuff is ten times better in quality and also five times as expensive, i'm confused.. i go home that night and dig out my old sunglasses and they're the same brand. Even have the velour bag they came in, no box!

So I am a assistant buyer for a fashion eyewear company doing alot of private label stuff for other brands. And i have been perusing this thread for awhile now... and it just occurred to me, that if I can get enough people interested, I can probably have some styles produced for ya'll... although it is very dependent on the amount of people interested as the suppliers I deal with have somewhat large MOQ's. Some notes to consider:

- Although it wont be custom to one individual person, but it can be custom in a way that people can agree on the color selection and thats what will get produced.

- I'll be honest, the frames will be made in Taiwan/China, but if you are willing, the lenses will be shipped from France. But our suppliers do deal with alot of bigger name companies.

- Cost will vary depending on frame, color treatments and quantities ordered.

- MOQ's are usually 300 pcs.... this might be a major issue....

Let me know if anyone is interested... this is just an idea..... that came to mind....
