I was planning to get that dunderdon hoodie (given that I saw some of their sick work pants) but it is not available anywhere so that's outta my future purchases list. Anyway, what do you think about spruce? I've heard positive comments from some of you but I have no methods of telling if it's worth it.

The Spruce hoodie I got is the best hoodie I've ever owned! It's just made so damn well. check them out at http://www.stevenalan.com

I got the Slim Fit hoodie which fits perfectly, although I had to size up to a Large (Im a medium almost always). They are made of quite thick cotton so they're quite warm.

I also really like Wings & Horns' zip hoodie from this latest season. I think they're a "sister company" to Spruce, and it looks like it's a Spruce hoodie but with amazing embroidery on the back (an "all-seeing eye" and "rays of vision"... hard to explain... very Illuminati though) but it's a fair bit more expensive than Spruce.

Hmm I did some research about spruce and their stuff seem pretty interesting and well built. It seems like the the west coast is totally devoid of spruce though. How does the classic hoddie fit? I am thinking about getting one of those but I dunno if I should get the size I generally get or just settle for the slim hoddie instead.

Not sure about the classic hoodie I'm afraid. Given that the slim fit is quite slim (as I said I had to go a size up) I would imagine it's safe to say that the classic fit is true to size (i.e., if you're usually a medium, get a medium classic fit). I really like the slim fit, though, since it's quite flattering and although it's slim it's not "tight". The fabric and construction is top notch, and it has great details (like the zipper seam is white, which means you'll have white accents on occasion). I know Am Rag in SF carries Wings & Horns, so its worth checking to see if they had the W&H hoodie I mentioned, or if they can get any Spruce for you. Failing that, try getting in touch with Steven Alan and seeing what they say.

Thanks for the insight minya; this definitely helps me a bunch. Anyway, I just went to San Fran on saturday and I don't feel like burning a lot of gas again...I prefer to just order from the stevenalan website instead (although it seems like they only carry the slim hoodie in blue color). So do you have any room in that slim hoodie? What I fear is that it would be too tight and it would shrink a lot when it goes into the washing machine. I might even consider the tiger hoodie.

I definitely do have some room. It fits me comfortably, but slim-ly. I guess that doesnt really explain... the hoodie fits me very well and it is definitely not skin tight, but since it is a slim fit it looks a lot.. uh... slimmer than a non-slim hoodie. Goddamn now I'm confusing myself. Hope you know what I mean. I noticed they only seem to have the blue in slim fit.. which is too bad.. not really fond of the blue. The one I have is a deep, rich brown, almost a black. I haven't washed mine yet, but I'm going to wash on cold and let it air dry so I don't expect much if any shrinkage. I'll probably wash it sometime this week so I can let you know what happens.

BTW, if you get the slim fit hoodie, get used to making use of the double zipper. It really helps for when you sit down, otherwise you get a silly looking bulge.

The tiger fleece hoodies are gorgeous IMO. I've seen them in person. The black and brown ones are great. I might pick up a 2nd one in tiger fleece around Christmastime.

I emailed for measurements for the classic hoddie and I got the following response:

"In a men’s large Spruce Hoody the measurements are as follows:

Top>Bottom: 26.5â€

Pit>Pit: 20â€

Shoulder>Shoulder 17.5â€

Hope that helps. If anything these run a touch small so if you’re planning to wash and dry with the rest of your clothes you could get away with going a size up.

Cheers!

Brett"

Wow...20" pit to pit seems really small for a large size. How can the slim fit hoodie not be similar to the classic fit?

Wow.. you're right.. that is really small... hold on, I'm going to go measure my slim fit hoodie.

Hrm, weird... mine is exactly the same. Mine has a tag on the back that says "slim fit" so I'm sure mine is the slim fit one... maybe the cut is different? Like, the stomach is a little larger on the classic, or something? I don't know. In any case I'd say you're safe with a Large.

I hope mine doesn't shrink too much if I tumble dry it.. I probably won't.
