in this topics of bio course i took freshman year (scholarly journalz yo) we learned that humans will always revert back to the same state of happiness. something about how it would always cause us to keep striving for more and never settle cause that what our genes would want. blah

like after you win the lottery you will experience tremendous joy.

but even with all the money you will go back to how you were before you won.

but i can't see that happening.

if i had that money so much weight would be lifted off my/our shoulders.

there would so much less anxiety that you would have to be happier.

the relief that knowing you and your family are financially secure for the rest of your life would have to be one of the best feelings in the world.

Research indicates that money over about $40k/year does not have any relationship with happiness whatsoever. Having more money won't make you happier at all, unless you're currently living at poverty levels. Excellent book on this subject: "Authentic Happiness" by Martin Seligman.

I think it's interesting that people think the psychic pain of celebrities isn't justified because they have such materially full lives.

40k aint enough to make a huge difference at all. Should be 100k at least. Money can't make you happy no doubt but it annoys me when people who are financially well off and can at least take care of themselves and family complain so much about happiness

Conduct some large-scale, well-controlled research for yourself and you'll probably find the same thing that 30 years of research has found. Ed Diener at Illinois has made finding predictors of well-being his life's work, and $40k is the magic number he's found.

Other economic keys to happiness include not making considerably less than the people in the area in which you live. There are vastly better ways to improve your life than making more money, though.

I don't have pics it was in 2003 (or whatever year he died, I did it like 3 weeks after) I had a white shirt and put some fake blood around the heart area, then took a kitchen knife and broke the blade off so it was just the handle, and rigged it to stick out of my shirt with some tape+cardboard on the inside. I don't really look like elliot smith but people got the idea with the knife in heart+guitar+shaggy hair.

Report Confirms Owen Wilson Attempted Suicide

Breaking NewsA "call to service" report from the Santa Monica Police Department, obtained by the television show "EXTRA," shows that the 911 call from Owen Wilson's home was made because the actor tried to commit suicide.

The call was received shortly after noon on Sunday and was "cleared" some five hours later. "EXTRA" is reporting that it was one of Owen's brothers who found him. Owen was rushed to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica and later moved to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Owen Wilson released this brief statement to TMZ through his rep: "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."
