crash test, just awesome, looks like a great find, i am absolutely jelous.

the label in the pocket is the union label , wich you have inside all of the lee repro stuff including jackets, they also have em on the shirts of other japanese companys.

the lee fit you perfect, the intersting thing is the paper on the back pocket wich has the shape of the pockets and are not suqare on the 101z. must be one of the first years of lee repros in japan.

wow man great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

very strange but, there are news i cant find on the lee japan site, but on other japanese sites.

lee japan has a 101b from 1955 for i think half a year now, and today i saw that they also have a 101z from 1955. the pants looks great.in comparison to the 1952 101z the zipper is a gripper zipper , instead of the universal.

it still has a half salvedge and the lee tag on the inside of the pants is also more 50s like now.and if the sizing on the speedway site is correct then those are not cut oversized like all the other lee repros. these really look like the pants dean wore in giant.

here are two links

another thing i found yesterday on the net is, that there seems to be a new collabo between lee and warehouse. the translation of the pages are not really good enough for me to understand fully what it is about, so check for yourself. it seems like there will be anothe 101z from late 40s with crotch rivet! i guess it will be fuller cut then the two 50s ones. i am still stocked.

here the link from the warehouse blog

http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fameblo.jp%2Fware-house%2Fpage-5.html%23main&sl=ja&tl=en&history_state0=

and of a blog for the wearehouse lee collaboration

http://74.125.43.132/translate_c?hl=de&ie=UTF-8&sl=ja&tl=en&u=http://ameblo.jp/wh-archives/&prev=_t&usg=ALkJrhifSk-w6neTG2FKTsA7c3uK73eEXA

seems like warehouse is opening a shop with all their stuff plus the lee archives stuff.

Brummie , nice one . U can never beat a bargain and its' great to get one now and again .

Fardin , I had wondered when/if a 1950s black centre tag 101z would ever be made . Full selvage would have been better , given that the 1955 101b has half . However , I wouldnt complain if I had a pair !!

well thats true mike, i was also waiting for a full selvage one, but the new warehouse collabo 101z does have full selvage, thought it is a 40s repro not a 50s.

me too want to have both actually

some more infos on the lee archives series. this looks awesome too if you ask me.

its a new 101LJ from what it seems the early 50s. check out the pics on the page, the sepcial thing with the early 101LJ´s is that the lining wasnt connected at the botton as you can see on the link , and the lining has a totally different color its grey with pink wich is very distinctive for the early ones!. looks like a real beauty to me. still wish i knew more abot this site. so if anyone here understands japanese maybe i would appreciate if you may couldhelp out

here the detail of the 101lj

Difference between Lee 1936 (W28) and Levis 501xx 1937 (W30). Lee is about 2 years old with one hot soak and two mashine washes, Levis is nearly new, only one hot soak and thre days of wear. The cut and the measurements are completely the same as you can see on the pictureslee-501.jpg[/img]

Some nice stuff there Fardin, owe you some rep for that...

I decided (about five minutes ago!) to soak the 1952s that I posted a while ago, as I really don't need a 37" inseam at the moment...plus, I'm going to be biking in them so could do with them being softened up a little.

Post-soak fit pics to follow...

Well, they lost a whole heap of starch and indigo in the soak, and there's still starch aplenty in the jeans...Inseam shrunk by just under two inches, I think there might be more to go...

Feeling these though, and I should be picking up some Evis Leepros next week, so it's left hand all the way for the foreseeable future!

Here are some pics of my mumys lee's. My dadys lee's will follow. They bought them 1963 here in vienna at the same time in the same shop before they went on their honeymoon. Can anyone help why they are different? Mumys are not selvage with leather label where we all know it, my dadys are selvage with leather label on the right back pocket.

yay, gorgeous.

I thnk mum's jeans look like the childrens' range - or perhaps the womens'? THose have the pocekt tag - I don';t know those well, only seen them occasionally.

I found out a little more about the inconsistent selvage on Lees. Cone used to produce some of their fabric, and they were introducing wide looms - shuttle looms, with selvage - even by the late 50s. They might well have been using different widths of fabric, even at the same time period.

Can't remember if I posted this before :

Interesting how so many vintage jeans don't really have such accentuated whiskers, instead it's mostly lap fades - I guess the owners spent a lot less time sitting down.

Thank you paul, I didn't know that there were also "Lady Lee's". But interesting that there was a difference in production between men and women (selvage and nonselvage). Or do you think the selvage version is older an was a kind of "deadstock" before my parents bought them?
