tokyo bopper is one of the oldest "trendy" stores in harajuku

they have been there since the mid 90's, as i recall

Yep, a lot of Japanese have no concept that they are an ethnicity not a race.

I'd say the Chinese are guilty in this regard as well.

The Chinese love to make distinctions how their civilization far surpasses anything that has graced this earth and makes it a point of pride when talking to Americans, or Europeans for that matter.

They will begrudgingly admit that the Egyptians had a "good" civilization but then they'll bring up the Great Wall and paper.

Regarding Japan, the Chinese like to say that they copied everything like everything else they have ever produced.
