the 2 i nthe middle don't look american at all

and from my meager french i can decipher from left to right

american - Allen Aylward , Radioman Third Class, de Beverly, Massachusetts

german - Feldmütze

3rd guy from the left has hair similar to those in the Waffen SS in the Hitlerjugend

the 4th has a shirt of a german uniform

standing with his back to us is Harold Goodwin, Signalman Second Class, de Fort Worth, Texas

6th who is shielded by Harold is also german

7th judging from his jacket and the signs on his sleeves is a Obergefreiter

You're correct, the two men closest to the camera, both wearing dark blue, zip front, knit collared deck jackets, are US sailors. The rest are German POWs.

thanks dr, those pics are from 1947, and i think the girl in the fist pic is wearing some wartime levis.

from what i know the 506 came with 5 buttons too, just check out the guys jacket, and yes looks like a 213.

Love the S501XX on the girl in that 1st pic, would +rep but cant.

Is that a 213 on the girl in the group pic?

Thought it might be a S506XX, but they only usually have four buttons, this jacket she's wearing's got five,

Anyone?

I think you may have misunderstood me,

The wartime Levis model are called S501XX, the group girl pic shows a girl with a type-1 style jacket with 5 donut buttons, like I said, must be a 213, as the S506XX (wartime 506xx) only have four (donut) buttons.

Sorry to be so picky..

I should get out more...!

Great pix mind, keep it up. You and meader keep this beautifull thread alive.

I sometimes do that with my engineer boots and socks too... fold down the tops over the boot so the boots don't eat my socks, like they love to do...

Actually works pretty good, although the metal buckle will tear your socks tops...

loven' the pics!

I am going to nominate all future +Reps to you for the great pix of the late 30's/early 40's levis jeans and jackets, esp. the shots with the arcs!!

Also, fair play to you for finding that fab pic of the two cowboys c. 1900 with the back of the early levis pants.

You are a God-sent denim nut, and I salute you.
