i like techno, mostly mnml. moved from detroit to chicago thinking the culture would improve but it was the exact reverse. people here think top 40 over some bullshit track is hot. people think it's cool to have 12 professional cameras at a party. if you are a girl who brought your best friend to the club chances are you're clad completely in american appparel grinding each other trying to attract one of these camera men. if you are a boy going to a club chances are you are trying to wrangle one of these girls and have no interest what is blasting out of the sound system.

anyway i gotta get going, but i just think the genre title could be taken as one of respect. as in shit started in italy even if they didn't mean for it to be a genre. i see it in the begining as marglinalized musicians or even "library muscians (not to be confused with our basic definitions of library music i.e. lounge,funk,jazz, soul, etc)," utilizing shitty and limited technology to pump out "disco" with as little funding (instruments/hardware/etc) as possible. this is just my theory for the early stages. omc in the house??

hmm...maybe you're right? i don't see how electronic music could have been cheap, period. i think in this era each piece of equipment was like at least 10-20 thousand. (that was a lot of fucking money then)
