Pride FC and MMA

you forgot steroids.

haha true but who wasn't using them in pride. i think 185 will be good for him, he should have a better chance of getting a few more wins before he retires. i would like to see him fighting hendo at 185 or maybe franklin if hes willing to come back down depending on who loses at 93.

185 in general has a ton of very tough & talented fighters and could be bad for wandy if he's not careful:

ricardo almeida

amir sadollah

demian maia

nate marquardt

chris leben

jeremy horn

don't know what kind of draw wand & chuck has at this point from a ppv standpoint since they've both been getting the shit kicked out of them lately. looking at the names i just posted i could see maia or almeida getting a shot at the title at some point, they are both beasts. a fight between the two of them would probably have some of the best bjj that people have ever seen in a ufc fight.

hopefully aleksander will get a shot in aflfiction at some point. there's a lot of great people for him to fight in the hw division. (besides his big bro of course)

That would be great, id want leben to KO him though, just cause i want leben to get some more wins and wands almost done

If anyone hasnt seen the Rob McCullough vs Donald Cerrone from WEC 36 a good vid has finally ben added to dailymotion. go watch it!! great fight each of them gets dropped more than once.

Man, I miss the old days of Pride. I have a Sakuraba wrestling mask here, I might put it on for a bit.

fuck it..throw on some tights too. Just to chill around the house, maybe even go for a jog around the neighborhood.

Seeing his last fight, i was feeling the same way. He was truly an innovator, a great fighter, and a showman to boot.

Rickson should've manned up when he had the chance, in their day that could've been one of the best mma fights of all time.

I wish he'd realize that there's only so many beating his body can take. He wraps almost the entirety of his legs these days. :(

Too be perfectly honest I'm just as excited now as I was before except now I'm exciting to see some real technical matches on every level instead of being excited that someone might lose their life via caved in skull from some vicious knees or stomps.

I never really held up any of these guys as idols either, except for Wandy, so its not that sad to see them go. Besides, you can still watch their old fights and get just as hyped.

Though, i do die a little inside every time I hear Saku is going to fight again.

I'd love to know why he still does it, i totally agree w/ you that there may be another reason he keeps fighting.

He would probably have a very nice living for himself if he gave up fighting and just traveled the world teaching us all his crazy catch/pro wrestling tricks. I bet he'd be a hell of a guy to go out for a night on the town with!!

i don't think saku really needs the money, he was super popular in japan at the height of mma in that country. im sure hes better off than most.

do you guys realize how much fun fighting is though? there are some people who stick around too long just for a few more paydays, but i really dont think saku is one of them.

Actually there were a few pretty good fights on the card. Shogun needs to get his shit together if he can't finish a guy who looks as rough as coleman did out there. My friends and i thought he'd either fallen asleep or died when shogun was working for the omoplata,

how the hell did shogun coleman win FOTN 2, i cant believe they got a bonus for that fight

94 is gona be so much better than 93. diaz will triangle guida and fitch vs gono should be good, kinda whack its on the undercard though. i hope the gsp fight doesnt go to a decision, i want to see someone get finished.

thoughts on shogun vs chuck at 97??

i think chuck will ko him and then the ufc will hype up the win and try to get chuck a shot for the belt again and pray he doesnt get ko'd by whoever the champ is then.

too bad sokodjou got cut, him vs shogun would be hilarious after they both gassed in the first round

i cant believe his hands were at his waist so quick, its not that hard to keep them up for 15 minutes

does anyone think he'll fight again? itd be an easy win for randy, and kinda funny to see two old guys going at it. itd be an easy win for cro cop too if he really fights at 99, though it couldnt be the main event which they are talking about putting him in

A lot of whether he fights again will be down to what kind of a contract he has with UFC. If he has a 3 fight deal we'll see him again (maybe against easier/upcoming fighters). If he only had a single fight deal then we might not see him again if he didn't produce higher than normal buy rates for the PPV.

i would think after that performance though he would get cut if he was on more than a 1 fight deal, because i doubt anyone really wants to see him anymore.

I've got to wonder what kind of deal UFC cut with him in the first place as far as the amount of fights in his contract. I'm pretty sure he was going to be Lesnar's first opponent in the UFC (obviously at a higher weight class). I can't see why they'd want to have him fight again, it's not that much fun to watch some young up and coming fighter beat up someone who looks like a cancer patient.

Well if he was on a 3 fight deal he gets 3 fights, that's the whole point of a contract. If he's on a 3 fight deal though I suspect they'll just feed him to someone they're trying to build up.
