easily put, cheep's shit at least looks decent a majority of the time. if you want to nitpick minor details thats fine (mabye the denim...), but i'm pretty sure you can imagine what implications i'm trying to get at. if he didn't really post an "identifical outfit" more than twice, then that shits even sadder (cause the results look the same, so he might as well).

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wearing the same outfit, shock fucking horror, more than once anyhow. I have far more respect for the posters who repeat fits and pieces frequently than those who obsess over throwing new pieces out every WAYWT, which smacks of consumerist obsession more than anything. I believe Rirawin's signature has something to say on the subject, and whilst posters like haptronic keep things fresh I see pieces cropping up persistently... I'd rather see pieces that suit a person come up repeatedly in different ways than 5 new Ann DxRick OwensxDior pieces every day, because ulitmately that says nothing to me about a person than 'hi I am soulless fashion whore'. I believe CMF himself tried to say something along those lines in superfashion but got attacked quite severely for advocating personal style over catwalk worship.

(Disclaimer: I personally view myself as a work in progress, would buy plenty of the aforementioned labels and have nothing against them in my wardrobe but on the other hand have no intention of entirely basing my fashion personality on the basis of labels and seasons over my personal, social and musical influences)

what he said

the problem is the lack of "progress". we're not seing any progress here, so he's a work in static. i personally don't post a lot of fits because they're not all worth posting as they're going to add little. i'm not going to post myself wearing the same shit day in day out without moving forward at all because it defeats the purpose of the thread.

dd,

i can respect where you're coming from, but i don't think you're grasping my logic.

i wasn't trying to say or imply that wearing the same peices is taboo. i was pointing out the fact that a certain subject likes to fit-post in abundance, and the majority of his ensembles (and how they look him) don't appeal to me. posting boring fits with the same peices everyday seems unecessary, at least to me. i mean what's the point??

OK, I see your point rather (despite being absofuckingluetely wankered n=on beers)...

was just playing devils advocate rahter... but still, sidneylo posts the same shit every day and to be honest, good as he looks, I wish he'd crank out some of the pieces he seems to have abandoned in favour of the 'accepted Sufu standard apparel'.. either that or he can post me those fucking plaid Blazers if he isn't going to wear them

I think to just use the argument that shoes, jeans and a plain tee is boring and needs to be expirimental and different is a bit much. I mean, most of the posters wear very basic items in the summer, and a lot of the +rep and praise comes from angles, pic composition, brands and perceived style. I mean, i think it's unfair for some to break down "boring outfits" as something that's plain and basic, as especially during the summer months. Sidney posts the most basic shit out here, and while i understand the difference between sidney and famous's overall style and much prefer sidney's, people should be a bit more consistant when breaking stuff down. I think a lot of this also has to do with the summer months and some people taking WAYWT as a fashion barometer or tool to push style forwards, while others simply use it as an little hobby and social means.

Not to use you as an example, J, but take for example your last fit. Jeans, tshirt and shoes. Nothing really exciting. I mean, i don't like the skull and label branding of the tshirt but the fit was solid and it worked aesthetically with the rest of the outfit. While, certainly nowhere near bad, it was boring. Most people (including me) actually liked your post though. With famous, is it that his inherent style is pretty suspect around here (a&f, hollister, cargo shorts, asian frat style), that his style is just very poor, or that he posts a lot and it loses its "freshness". Probably a combination but i wonder if it'd be any different if he just posted once a week and posted more of his supreme, dior stuff instead of bdg, a&f and hollister at different locations each time. Not that i'm accusing you or any other forum members of being sufu hive mind or anything because i feel pretty much the same way about him and his outfits, but some other people with very suspect style get major props around here for some of the sufu recipe reasons i mentioned. More devil's advocate along the lines of DD than arguing.

jimmyc- I normally dig your rockabilly, laid back aesthetic but i'm just not feeling this one. It doesn't look bad or anything, but as someone who seems to dig classic style i think it could be a bit better sartorially (bit big in the shoulders, no cuffs, pants too long, boots wrong aesthetic). What were you getting all dressed up for if you don't mind me asking? Just curious.

for one thing, i don't really care for the stuff that famous' owns, wears, his personal styling ie. how he puts stuff together. i think a big factor is that he posts so much. i mean it's basically overkill of the same peices we've already saw. this wouldn't be too bad if he actually tried to do something appealing or at the very least different with them.

and i'm not talking about nor have i ever singled out ensembles that just just display denim, sneakers, and tees. when you mention a "hive" mentality, people will probably get a negative impression of it. sure, it's great to think "outside the box" or whatever, but i don't see a big problem if members of sufu have similar aethetics, likes, hates, values, mentalities etc (if this becomes stagnant, a fashion foward/or respectable member usually brings new ideas/directions to the board). if there was no equillibrium whatsoever then the board would be alittle pointless. i think that most people can smell bullshit. i can usually tell as to whether or not someone is agreeing for the sake of agreeing (cockriding, etc) or if they are being honest about their opinion in the context of certain agreements.

Chamber of Commerce Rodeo Sponsors appreciation dinner. I live in a small college town in East Texas and the up tight crowd at this dinner just don't appreciate Samurai Jeans, Harley Engineer boots & black t-shirt. It's pouring rain right now so I wore boots instead of Allen Edmonds. I would rather not have gone but my business depends on showing up to bullshit like this and being seen specially since I donated a shit load of money.

I prefer to dress like you usualy see me, trust me.

I agree with what you have been saying about famous's fits and general waywt philosophies. I was merely just a bit curious about the whole thoughts and motives behind critiques/praise of famous and other members (popular or unpopular). Just gettin a bit of insight is somewhat interesting. It is weird though, that people across the internet can smell bullshit and personal style. I do think some of the conflict over praise and hate have to do with how certain people perceive waywt though.

Jimmyc- I understand completely. As much as i almost fancy the time in a few years when i'm (hopefully) teaching at a university and having the oppurtunity to wear slightly more formal attire, i'm sure i'm going to lust for a pair of japanese denim, and casual boots.
