I dont buy that in this case because that JD design is pretty iconic, as far as I can tell. Thats the image I associate with the band, and lotssssssss of people have those tshirts with "Joy Division" written on them.

I'm not hating on anyone's style or anythtng because I am hardly an authority on how to dress, hahaha. It just seems weird to buy a band tshirt if you dont really listen to them.
