Sun Ra: Brother from Another Planet

 

Great documentary on the greatest jazz musician of all time. Really worth watching, despite really being a "talking heads"-style doco, there's some great stories on Ra's life and work, interviews with great musicians like Archie Shepp and Thurston Moore, and some vintage concert footage of the Arkestra!

it was pretty bad! very superficial over the top 80s, moderately entertaining at best. i have unfortunately not read the book, but i would imagine the book would have to be better.

very enjoyable, will probably watch again soon. i was skeptical at first, some of the little cut scenes threw me off a bit, some seemed a but superfluous. overall they worked, some really cool animal stuff as well.
