what did you think of the horseman fanboy??

Thought it was an enjoyable little flick. Liked the grim and gray feel. The story was obviously a little cheap, but it still gave you something to try and figure out. Like I didnt really feel he was revenging the death of his daughter, but radder the filth she performed in the film.

But it definitely had some nice creative torture and fight scenes. Might have wanted the torture scenes a little more explicit though, atleast some of them...

One of the most enjoyable documentaries i've seen! Love these kind of biographical documentaries. It reminded me of American Splendor and the Daniel Johnston doc, with these kind of underground outsider artists.

If anyone knows about something similar to this one, or the ones mentioned above, please give me a heads up!

Saw True Grit (the new one) at a friend's place earlier, can't put my finger on it but I wasn't a big fan. All performances were good (Jeff Bridges and the teenage girl were great,) but maybe it was too short? Many of the scenes and events felt too short. Western + Coen brothers just made me want to watch No Country for Old Men again, and I'll do just that.

Richard+Brooks,+Ava+Gardner,+John+Huston+The+Killers+(1946).jpg

the killers (1946)

finally got around to this

it was recommended to me when i worked in a video store (remember VHS?) as a teen since i was a hemingway-obsessive (the film is based on the papa short story of the same name)

FUCK!

it is so good

set in philadelphia (all sound stages i am sure) but you can recognize all the spots anyway

particularly the infamous mob hangout The Drake Hotel

but yeah, sophisticated construction

audience plays role of investigator

rashomon-like perspective

and ava gardner is smoldering

smart tough guy flim

The Big Sleep

i am pretty sure i fell asleep on this during a 2AM viewing when i was a teen

i watched this three times in quick succession this month

utterly beguiling flick that does not become clearer upon repeated viewings

impossibly convoluted plot

file under: just let it wash over you

proto-david lynch type psychic manipulation

lauren bacall (not pictured) is stunning

would wife even now (i'd take off my eyeglasses)

bogie cool as shit - swag in spades
