i though it was a really interesting film, but vincent gallo is such a self-indulgent asshole, it doesn't seem to be up on his website anymore but he used to offer "personal services", as in selling a date with himself for $500,000 and his sperm for $1,000,000.

i agree, huge egotistical asshole.

i have to admire a guy that is so genuinely self absorbed that he just ignores everyone/everything around him, but still is to some extent successful.

^ what did you think ?

damn i remember watching it in germany when it got released, original version subbed in english, i was hangover and fell asleep halfway through, i saw the end though. from what i remember it was a bit confusing but the acting was great. i don't like von trier's movies much, but from what i saw it was my favorite movie from him (i hadn't seen dogville yet).

In all honesty it wasn't a great movie. It was light hearted, and enjoyable, but thats about it, although thats exactly what the movie claims to be at the very start so i guess i cant be too disappointed.

The acting was good, but the one aspect that stood out for me was the cinematography, the use of super fast cuts with shifting backgrounds, i though was really interesting.

As for Lars Von Trier, i have seen a number of his films

The idiots, is incredible and you should definitely get your hands on a copy. Dancer in the dark is also great, and i thoroughly enjoyed the five obstructions. I still have to see dogville and antichrist! But if you get the chance rent The Kingdom Part 1 and 2, its the miniseries that he did in the late 90's, its absolutely incredible! some of the best television i have ever seen!

Oh thanks for reminding me i've wanted to watch The Idiots for ever. I remember thinking "its not my kind of movie" when looking at Dancer in the Dark but i might give it a shot, and i had never heard of The Kingdoms that sounds good.

I saw Antichrist at the theatre when it was released and wasn't in the mood for the great and complex movie it must be (according to good critics) and found it, though intelligent and visually pleasant, rather empty and boring. I don't feel like watching it again either, maybe in a few years... I think that it's a movie you can like it a little, you have to either hate it or love it. But all the Von Trier fans I know loved it.
