I purchased some imaginably quality jeans awhile back ( when I read they were Kaihara denim ) from a buddy of a buddy of BUCKethead .. i think it's " buccTheDead " cause they rock big time !!! :::

k anyways the jeans are ACE-0-Rama denim - repros of 1954-S - assumedly the repro of Levi's original S -501 -xx but 14.25 oz slubby fuzzy wuzzy jeans .. nice and soft now that I have done the following ¹ ² ³ :

1.) Washed all the starch I put into them the 1st month of me wearing them every day or 1 day a week off ...

~~ Inside out in semi-hot water 30 minutes w/ tablespoon or so of Tide Free or free n' clear some ish .. Then two cold water rinses .....

2.) Did a little running of hand over the fibers while in tub with ankles crossed / posted in 2 " or so of water :-)

3.) noticed some indigo in tub - must have letted that sheeet loose ey ?? !!!

~~ thought to self at this point rub some more but didn't

4.) Hung the jeans to dry after letting water run out with them siting there like 20 minutes - then grabbed them by the knee area and let them drip off more

5.) Clipped the cuffs with pressure hanger / clip - made of wood type hanger that clamps shut by bending neck into place ....

6.) They are too big anyways so did not put them onto myself ..

7.) completley dried out the next morning with the help of ....

my canes were one wash, have been washed a few times in 2 months(less really), and i have never had a problem with creases. honeycomb creases still set after a machine wash and spin cycle. starch in my opinion, can make wear look unnatural.
