I need a sneaker contact

Whats up guys, I recently opened a small boutique in NYC but for the life of me I can't get a sneaker account (nike, puma, adidas, reebok). Can anyone give me more info on a connect or possible ways to get my foot in the door. All help will be greatly appreciated.

Not to be rude but shouldn't you of been trying to find the ins and out before you opened for business. Okay first you are going to need to contact the corporate headequarters of each and every shoe company you want to have an account with. I hope you don't think your going to have a Quickstrike account, Tier 0,or Tier1 . The reason you may not be getting your accounts is the way you present your business.

I contacted all long before opening but I had to open up sooner or later, the rent wasn't going to pay itself. I am also familiar with the tier system so I am not silly enough to think that I will end up with a tier zero or tier one account just because. Perhaps I worded the post wrong but i'm looking for alternatives to traditional ways and means. I thought there might be a fellow shop owner hear who might have had the same experience that could give me pointers and tips. I am aware of how the system works but i'm looking for alternatives to help me circumvent it.

isn't nyc saturated with sneaker boutiques already...?

what's the difference between tier 0 and tier 1. i know the tier 0 accounts receive the most exclusive/limited/hype items but isn't tier 1 just a QS account?

Tier 0 and Tier 1 accounts are set up by Adidas and are used to distribute their limited shoes like 35 Anniv. series and the Adicolor Series. These are probsbly also going to be used for the upcoming fabrics of the world series.

Try giving something back to SF instead of just trying to leach (leech?) and you're more likely to get something in return. For instance, no one knows anything about your store, other than that you sell streetwear and apparently got in some "ill tees" that are already for sale on the artist's website.

Not to hate, I'm all for getting out there and doing something, but you gotta let us know what your doing.

Also, give SF members crazy discounts.

I hear what your saying Servo but keep your post all the way real. You say "not to hate" but your post is nothing but hateful. I'm a young dude out here trying to make things happen asking for info in a place thats suppose to be about information and sharing. So why would you come at me sideways? You say give something back, what exactly do you want? Pictures of the shop, the names of all the brands I carry, the location, the telephone #. Thats not a problem all you have to do is ask. Its really quite simple "I'd like to know more about the shop where is it located?" I honestly don't see whats so difficult about that. I like SF but I don't like people on here trying to kill my positive attitude with their negative attitude. Thats real and for the record the name of the shop is World and we are located on 187 Chrystie Street, NYC we are there all day everyday!! Brands we carry Guilty Brotherhood, Trainerspotter, Garbege, Franklin & Marshall, Freshjive, House 33, Socialist, Jask, Marshall Artist, Merlin, Rockwell, Doarat, Aem Kei, Evil Genius, Sling & Stones, Hellz Bellz, Luke 1977, Numbers, and Hello Minor ofcourse.

Thanks for the advice polishmike its good to know SF hasn't been completely taken over by pricks.

i don't even think niketalk would help you out, i think your best bet would be to get another shop's contact as people on message boards everywhere are just probably going to blow smoke up your ass anyways...

I agree, it come off a bit hateful, but now that I see you carry some brands I like I'm more interested. It was meant to be more of a suggestion and came off tinged with resentment towards all of the ridiculous other stores / shirt brands / etc... who come on here and just ask for a free ride. We get a lot of that and I'm a little cynical aside, so I apologize.

So final word for me: if you're "real," good luck and good job man.

i'm a prick too :D

anyway good luck with your shop. it won't be easy in nyc but others did it and so can you. i'm sure if you post some pictures of your clothes some people might be interested, just create separate thread and go wild. i don't know some of those brands and i'm sure there are a lot of people like me. always ask for advice, not a favour.

one way is to start a website with an online shop.

if people become interested in the stuff you sell, they will drop by.

It's a good suggestion, and e-commerce isn't too difficult to get going these days. There are loads of easy to use software on the market for setting up these sort of sites. I've never tried them as I usually do my coding myself, but I've also never needed to set up an online shop.

you probably wont get any of the accounts you want. if a company already has a long relationship with another store even remotely in your vicinity, they wont open you. its all about who you know and how soon you get in on it.

also, most companies want a very large dollar amount for minimum orders, which can be very crippling to small business owners. keep your head up and good luck, but dont drop your trust fund into the place.

True I am surrounded but if all of those stores were given accounts why would they stop with me. Lets not forget that Adidas, Nike, and Reebok are huge companies that are driven by one thing...Money. They each drop hundreds of styles in a year and there is no way that all of the aformentioned could carry each and every style.

I like your philosophy and think you have very good reasoning in regards to Nike/Adidas "not stopping". Its true that the more distributors they have, and the more tiers/castes they create, then thats all the more opportunities to distribute more "limited" stuff.

Collect them all type of thing.

Best type of approach on SF is to come out totally honest and up front though. While you might not have intended, posting a few different threads might arouse suspicion, especially since lots of people register to post about some new graphic tee company.

Either way, best of luck

to be honest, the answer is "who the hell are you"

The reason why these guys can get accounts is because they're part of an inner circle, they all know each other, worked with each other at one time or another, and they hook each other up.
