Evolution of Leather Goods: Before and After Pictures

Recommended Posts

hey guys, glad that cleaner works for you guys. unfortunately, i can't wear my wallet with dress slacks at the office, so i can only rock it on the weekends. i am seriously thinking about changing professions so i can rock jeans and saddle leather wallets.

i have an interesting story, i forgot if i posted this on here already, but here goes.

when i was in tokyo, i was at the local supermarket and someone came in wearing an alpha industries jacket (it had alpha industries printed on the back), selvage jeans and a big redmoon wallet sticking out of his back pocket. i immediately ran up to him and said (in japanese), "excuse me, but is that a redmoon wallet?" he was visibly surprised and said in a suspicious tone, "yeeees....." i replied, "that's dope, how old is it?" again a suspicious look, "about 2 years." i stepped closer and reached out my hand, "can i see it?" the moment of truth came. does he run for his life or does he hand his wallet over to a complete stranger. he thought about it for a second and said, "sure." he reached for his back pocket and handed me his beautifully-aged redmoon wallet. it was so shiny and polished, and dark in all the right areas. i held the wallet for a second, admiring it's beauty. then i said, "thank you," and handed it back to him. he looked at me with a mixture of pride, fear, and WTF? and then ran off to buy his produce.

that probably never happened to him before. most japanese people are afraid to go up to total strangers, especially if it's just to check out a wallet.

I got the EZ cleaner on miz's recommendation, it's supposed to be gentler on the leather, as it's designed to be used for suede. It really dries the leather though, so you should oil it after. I don't know if Chicken's had the same experience. Otherwise, just go with Lexol. It's ph balanced, doesn't really dry the leather as noticeably, and it's more readily accessible, if my trips to sho repair places are any indication.

you might be right about the drying. i've been using a leather balm made by tarrago right after the wallet had dried after using the e-z cleaner. just like how miz was recommended:

i haven't had the dry wallet problem, but it might be because of the balm.

poly- are you sure that bifold is offered in raw leather? it looks tanned to me.

the link i posted is the black one they did, sam just emailed me today saying they have a natural one in production next week! i'm so excited. I need a smaller wallet and really love my belt by them...I made a point in telling him how great the belt was wearing and really wanted a natural wallet not previously offered and he said he'd get in touch when they made them...so he did.

You gonna keep the Red Moon Poly or sell it?

not really sure yet....i'd love to keep it, but i actually might end up selling it..i don't wanna lose that much on it though, but the nice difference is that i bought it myself rather than going through a 3rd party so it was a bit cheaper for me...we'll see...the one thing red moon did get me hooked on was the coin purse. i can't even fathom the idea of coins in my pocket anymore...

Just like this SD from rakuten dstock... kids one too it seems.. pretty cheap. the size isnt TINY, its normal, maybe a little thin but it makes up for it in height... I COULD get one but it doesnt look like it has any slots, although the zipper is cool. the tanner bifold does sound interesting, I dont like how itll have TANNER branded on it though

11.5 x 6.5 isn't that small, although it's a lot smaller than mine.

you see, to me i look at redmoon hr's as pretty much the standards now. (but maybe a little thicker than necessary.) smaller wallets, imo, don't fill up my pocket enough that they give me what i feel like are inadequate pocket fades. especially as a primary wallet, i prefer something around the hr size.

(it's all about the size. :D )

I think i may have found an HR for cheap, so it's hard to not pull the trigger. And i know what you're saying about the back pocket separate coin purse chicken, i think that i'm going to have to get one when i go overseas to school (coins are actually worth something haha)
