well, i have been on a black denim quest for a while------i wanted button fly, black stitching, unsanforized and selvage; all those things coexist peacefully in the S5KBK.

something tells me this spells trouble (for my wallet)....XCRX is going to be busy...

btw john, you can order directly from samurai, without a middleman.

successfully done this? i'm quite interested to get these black denim. help!

what would you guys think if i try to wash them as often as possible (not caring about contrasts) so as to lighten the denim (170z is heavy for me)?

John, I've spelled it out earlier in the post, here's a PM i sent to another superdude regarding this matter:

go to www.samurai-j.com, skip the movie and click the picture of the S5000bk, scroll down and hit the only button there and you will be prompted for the password: ZEROKURO

then fill out the form;

here's a cheat sheet on the jap part------starting from below the two "Email" boxes:

postal code

address

telephone

size

something that doesn't matter (some kind of payment options)

card type

card number

exp date

comments box

when you are done, there will be a confirmation button, if you don't get the confirm button, you did something wrong.

the trick here is to translate the bottom message, it should either say confirm, or it will tell you the order can't be placed.

when all else fails, email TOSHIKO at [email protected]

no, they wont get lighter. if you want light and black you should get Fullcounts, they're 13.76oz. The 1474 is indigo with sulphur overdye and the 1310 is just sulphur-dyed. These are the same cut as the 1108 but you can get the same denim in other cuts.

Btw Roland, you don't have a pair for 5000's? I remember you have Samurai's but not which ones.

who else is going for or has ordered the s5000bk?any indication how much shipping would be?

does toshiko speak english and will they undervalue the shipment?

the shipping was 4600 for me last time, a bit steep, but it's because they sent it in a really big box.

she speaks English and she'll write down the value if you ask her too, and probably even if you don't.

i love japanese girls. they all look the same. which means they all look good. and i assure you that there will be only one woman over 120 pounds within a one mile radius in japan. and that woman will probably be an american tourist.

I had some of the VX fabric on a pair of SO110VXJs, and I ended up selling them to a friend.

I've actually wanted the S3000vx or the S5000vx for a while since the fit is little more relaxed then my SO110xj's. I really like the 3000s painted backpocket plus I think the denim used to be lighter then the 5000s, but I may be mistaken.

should i size down on samurais?

definatley if youre getting the VX or the 5000xx size down, once or twice. and let your waist "STF" stretch to fit. so then you can control if you need to cold soak or not. i like to wear it straight raw. i dont want to soak it unless i have to. straihgt raw, imma give it to ya,with no trivia, like cocaine straight from bolivia - ODB.

I remember you sold your 5000's because they were too big. How much would you size down from the 103's to get the same fit, 1 or 2 sizes?

should i size down on samurais?

on these I think you should size down 2 sizes. The shrinkage variation on the chart for each inch size is 4cm. My S011XJ variation is about 2.5 cm.

I am 32 at the hips and I have a 31 in the XJ's and they are slightly loose after a hot wash and machine dry to get them to shrink to their final size. I ordered a 30 in the BK's

yeah i was the guinea pig for the VX experiment =) hehe.after learning about "samurais" uneveness 5th thread weave liek on the VX and 5000xx and how it operates.definately size down 1 or 2.

For the 103s its different cause the fabric is this super tough weave and rigid like sheet rock,so chances are you are going to cold soak it. i ordered my size, after cold soak it and shrunk 2 sizes. though it took me lot longer to stretch out compared to other dry denims. it stretched to a nice fit. so i say get your size iand just put extra labor with the stretching like i did or size up and have a slightly easier time to stretch.

the cold soak will shrink in all approtiate areas too. like the back, lenght, hem. its pretty necessary. i dare anybody to wear these straight raw,you will cut your self.lol

after like a warm wash or something, the lengh will shrink 3 inches. all other areas will be like 1/2 inch.
