^ I haven't felt a Strike Gold one in person yet - seems like I'll have to one of these days, thanks for the tip! Though, 43 across the chest in the large would be a fairly tight fit for me, not sure I can pull it off. Just miss the days when BR was good old 12 oz fabric, and cheap as bananas on Rakuten every winter ^_^ Though, even in the "old" days I thought BR's fabric isn't as good as others - it pills more easily, and the brushed interior looses it's softness more quickly over time...seems like it's not the old fashioned "hanging" loop-wheel, but rather made on a cotton sinker of some sort. The stitches also weren't as solid as the more expensive brands either. I was told by a rather large stockist of Toyo products to try Whitesville's sweats instead though - apparently the fabric is better, and they're only about $10 more expensive.

can totally recommend the mccoys sweat- xl fits beautifully and doesn't shrink up much at all. quality is top drawer- i have all 3 colours and would buy more if they made more!

^ Toy's or Real McCoy?

I do agree though, and have tried both.

Real McCoy fits my body-shape a bit better, but Toy's prints are out of this world (especially the Warner Bros. & Felix the Cat ones.)

The real interesting question is Toy's vs. Real...though it seems Toy's doesn't get all that much attention on here.

I was lamenting the loss of cheap but good sweats - I used to pick up printed BR sweats at around $50 - there's a large abundance of good but expensive sweats, hahaha :P

BR is/was special because it's cheap but good quality, I don't know why the Toyo mothership would choose to 'downgrade' the fabric though - we might as well start buying Barns instead (wouldn't be too bad of an idea, as Barns' fabric is actually hanging loop-wheeled.)

I think Peggs and Son still have old stock, they told me they got them in 2010. I ordered 2 but have been away from home since so not got round to picking them up.

New BR sweats feel very dfferent to me but I am a massive fan of the old ones. Real McCoys must have stepped up becayse when I tried them abour 3 or 4 years ago it felt lightweight and poor fit. Strike Gold does feel very good, quite soft but heavy. Not tried on .

real mccoys- i'm a fan of the plain, no prints, at my age!

but agreed, not cheap- so your original lament stands....having bought both reigning champ and pike bros, i remain disappointed with most options...

Here you go sir!

Grey is the new type, washed once with zero shrinkage, black is the old model, it's been washed numerous times.

Sorry if the pics came out a little big, imageshack doesn't resize correctly when i upload on my iPad.

imagewcg.jpg

They fit different but i can't say which i like better, the extra lenght is welcome to me, but when worn not really a noticeable difference imo.

The sleeves on the black one feel a little narrower, i like that, and the neck is wider.

The fabric on the old sweat does feel thicker, but i don't know if it's actually heavier, might be just difference in feel inbetween colours due to used materials.

hey michel, real late pass on this but...

what jeans and boots are those buddy? (same jeans in all the pics?) looking mighty nice!

and love the bug btw :D

Someone has an older model sweat in med. said the back measured 24 inch from top to bottom. i usually wear small. will this fit me properly? i'm about 5' 10"

thanks!

At 5' 10", you'd need a Med (at least), a Small would be too short.

Thanks my man, they're indeed the same jeans in all pics.

Samurai S5000VX, you ought to know these ;-)

The boots are Lone Wolf carpenter boots.

was thinking bout the VX's but wasn't sure

mmm lone wolfs, how did u size them compared to crepe sole RW's? I'm on the fence between a pair of these and a pair of Vibergs, decisions decisions, would have to special order my size tho I guess, since they don't make a US11 I believe...

Just scored this hat, it's amazing.

History Preservation is the Best resource for all things buzzzzz

I love the Buzz caps. I got the watch cap myself and I wear it regularly. My only beef with History Preservation is the high cost of shipping. However, when I did order (via phone) I got A+ customer service so I guess it's not all that bad.

i own the navy colored watch cap, definitely awesome piece, wear it almost daily when it's cold, i bought mine from clever-id.com though

I think the lenght is pretty good Mike.

Strangely my Buzz chambray actually fits rather short.

Same size as my 875, i think you'd be best off with the same size you wear in RW too, but like you said i don't think they're being made in US11...

Mikecch, the whole shirt looks far too big for you and completely unflattering, perhaps you should have sized down. I'm sure you'd still need a smaller size altered in length too as those shirts seem very long.

Thanks for the feedback!

@ Mich: Yeah, it's a first for me to have such a huge length on a BR...

@ M F: Sizing down would have been a slim fit, no doubt more flattering... though I like a bit more room in the chest.

Got my BR chambray back from alterations, shortened by a good 12 cm...

Reckon the length is OK?

I'm thinking of get another couple of cm taken off.

I agree you could take an extra few cm off...

damn that shirt must have been hella long though and i thought my mf utility chambray is long (would love to take some length of that myself)

Tiro; I thought you were going to buy a pair of Viberg service boots?

yeah long story, those are still on my list though, if you want more details, pm ;)

anyhow, kinda sucks that lonewolfs don't come in us11, rob told me he might be able to special order me a pair though (now i'm off to give my s1203xx's their first wash)
