Levi's Vintage 1947 501xx Deadstock or Nudie Straight Sven Dry Selvedge?

I'm thinking of getting one out of those 2 but not sure on which one. Any suggetions?

Two very different style jeans. I have both and like both but for very different reasons. Both have nice heavy denim. The SSDS has streaky slubby denim, while the 47s typically don't. Much higher rise on the 47s and an antifit ass. The SSDS "fit" better, but if you are wearing 47s its probably for nostalgia sake or your trying hard to be rockabilly.

it is like that film Two-Lane blacktop, a drag race between a souped-up primer gray 1955 Chevy vs. a then brand-new 1970 GTO. both cars (and jeans) have their appeal, but for entirely different reasons.

the 47 levi would be the 55 chevy. the 1970 GTO would be the ssds.

are you dennis wilson/james taylor or warren oates?

I don't know about those Levi's, but those Nudies will probably be available for years to come. If those Levi's are hard to come by, I'd get those first and the Nudies later.

Also, the SSDS are probably a bit slimmer and 'fitted'.

This was mentioned here before:

SSDS has two versions:

1) Italian selvedge with streaky (pale vertical lines) denim.

2) Japanese selvedge - Minimal slubby, soft hand (over time) and beautiful blue color fading. This one uses the same denim as the RRDS. I really like this denim on my RRDS. It is less slubby than the current LVC47 denim.

One thing to consider too is that a somewhat natural progression of buying Raw Denim seems to be Nudie, APC, and other modern jeans to Repros or Japanese Jeans. A deduction from this may be, after reading, and using say, Nudies, one learns more and desires something else.

I know that I wish I would have bought regular repros in oppose the the "hyped" Nudies that are becoming more and more common among the fashion crowd.

i still wear my slim jims, popularity shouldnt deter people from wearing well cut jeans.

nudie still carries the best cuts around.

^^^^ ditto. I don't know about best, but depending on your build the fits can be spot on.
