Nice, looking forward to feedback on Spook Country. That or Robin Hobb's Forest Mage or Chris Anderson's The Long Tail is next on my list.

I'm still grappling with Reaper's Gale, this instalment is moving very slowly and prone to some pontification.

I was browsing some of the local thrift stores & resale shops... while I didn't spot any good deals on anything else, I was able to score these books - for $1 each:

-The Boys from Brazil

-Into Thin Air [read Under the Banner of Heaven earlier this summer - it was awesome]

-The Alienist

I read the Boys from Brazil this afternoon/evening all in one shot, it was that interesting and surprisingly well written (even tho I already knew the basic plot). Only 200pg, nice summertime reading.

Torday- Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

just finished that, really witty and a nice satire of Blair era politics (especially Alastair Campbell) mixed with a nice and simple message about faith.

have read past weeks:

Delillo-Underworld (not completely finished yet)

Kafka-Metamorphosis

Dostoyevsky-Notes from Underground

Easton Ellis- Glamorama

Harry Potter and Deadly Hallows

and various short stories (Frank Sinatra has a cold; The Kentucky derby is decadent and depraved; Snow of the Kilimanjaro; and some more)

Now starting with Nietsche's Thus spoke Zarathustra and finishing Underworld

Thanks Diddy for the recommendation... I'm reading PATTERN RECOGNITION right now. About to hit up SPOOK COUNTRY a bit after I'm done.

Kind of going back into the old David Sedaris shit too--random but yeah.

convinced that mr. gibson is superfuturistic

all this talk of APC, Red Wing boots and such

His interests run to the realms of the superfuture - he has written in his blog about the glories of Loopwheeler, has his own signature Buzz Ricksons jacket and he is currently travelling with the Acronym 3A-1 Einsatztasche messenger bag (the bastard!). I have a friend in Boulder who is going to try to grab it for me this weekend. :)

damn, I didnt know a new Gibson novel was out! thats a must for me... althouh Pattern Recognition isnt my favourite of his, his writing style seems to improve. My favourites are probably Virtual Light/idoru/all tomorrows parties - triology.

The promise of esoteric red wing mentions is promising though.
