it's so counterintuitive, the 47s and 54s have "banner denim" but they seem to fade with relatively low contrast and 220A fades look very similar to how actual WH banner denim fades... anyway, as much as I don't want blankets on my legs for summer in NYC, I went with the 220A...pray for me2 points
-
I have the 220A, 220XX-47, and 220XX-54. My 47s have the most wear followed by the 220A (both are minimally faded). I have only tried on the 54s, those will be stored away for a while. The 47s and 54s are size 31 and the 220A are 32. The 220A denim is noticeably heavier/tighter. I like the banner denim of the 47/54s much better than the 220A denim. If I had to pick I'd go with the banner denim - It's very comfortable and I like the color.2 points

Shameless plug. Selling off a Full Count WWII Tux, Warehouse 2002XX, Warehouse Lot 2202, Cushman Sweats.... Not real pricing on there. Lmk if anything is of interest. My mum can take any of this back to the UK with her in April. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_dkr=1&iconV2Request=true&_blrs=recall_filtering&_ssn=jabr_2774&_oac=12 points

Yeah - I will ask actually. If I get any sort of response I'll share here! Unwashed those S1001XX are looking more similar to mine, the patches are the same material too that's for sure, and had a look at the care tag on my 1001XX-25 and it's got blue text too, so probably all from around the same time!1 point

Good choice, 220A denim is like nothing else. It reminds me of APC somewhat but with that Denime marbling. I have worn mine on hot Cali days and no hotter than a usual pair of 14oz denim.1 point

Several pairs of jeans for sale. All prices include shipping in the US, we can negotiate shipping if you're located elsewhere. Many more pictures available upon request. Washed twice, tried on, too small for me. Like New condition. Includes flasher. Waist 30.5 Front Rise 10.75 Back Rise 14.5 Thigh 12.4 Hem 8.4 Inseam 35 TCB Late S40s, Size 31, $170 Worn ten times, washed once. Only sign of wear is slight fading at the hem. Since I don't have a proper type-3 repro (my Oni secret denim jacket is... its own unique beast), I decided to pull the trigger on a Lot 233. If I understand correctly, it's the same denim as the 220A. I know it's meant to complement lot 221, but I'm unsure if the three use the same fabric. My instincts tell me they are also the same as the type-2 jacket in the series. @beautiful_FrEaK I feel like you may know this answer. Anyway, I went with a size 38 per pre-wash measurements, and I'm hoping for a slim, almost shirt-jacket-type fit.1 point

Plugging along through a very cold New York winter. Not the lighting to show any denim progress, though there also really isn't much to report as these are off-hours only. But overall loving the fit and feel. It never feels like a chore to reach for these in the morning getting dressed and they've styled well into everything I've tried with them.1 point

Feels like MySpace ca. 2005 Size down craze: Nope Slept in jeans: Yep, but just to stretch them out (black TCB 50s), never ~for the fades~ Diors: Nope Fancy wallet: Nope Engineer boots: Nope Ocean wash: Yep, but only incidentally Resolute washing / fit having previously not: Nope Never washing: Nope Coffee wash: ???? Time’s tricky like that1 point

Listen up people.. I'm making a list of past sufu trends Did you jump onboard or not../ how fking sufu actually are you? My inclination is probably not much but we’ll see. I was pretty much too broke to spend more than 30$ on jeans from TJ Maxx up until around 2016 when I had a decent year and also visited Raleigh Denim for the first time for a job - that was a year after I visited the Horween Tannery in Chicago. Those two things coalescing led to me appreciating and spending more on clothes. But I am nowhere close to an OG - I saw a lot of these trends in Chicago at that time and let’s say most just didn’t appeal to me from a purely aesthetic perspective. Size down craze.. No Slept in jeans.. Not in my Sufu days. A few times during some backpacking trips, and only out of necessity. Diors.. No Fancy wallet.. No Engineer boots.. Emphatic no, lol Ocean wash.. No Resolute washing / fit having previously not.. I just wash when stuff feels like it needs it and really don’t think too hard about how it turns out? Never washing.. Not really, I’ve gone maybe 4 months at best Coffee wash.. No Slubby or streaky.. I did own some PBJ’s for a time. And SC Edo AI’s I still own. Heavy oz denimz.. Those PBJ’s were 18 oz. I think 18oz is considered heavy so yes. Joined a contest.. Just this year! Joined a tour.. No APC.. No Fancy washing detergent.. No Worn denim while raw.. No..though upon further reflection probably yes with a sanforized pair once. Paid for an expensive repair.. No Wallet jewelry.. No Numerous pairs of very expensive boots.. What is Very Expensive? I have a few pairs of what I think are nice leather boots, but nothing I paid more than $400 for - so, not on par with what seems to be the norm? Numerous pairs of identical jeans.. Nothing identical, the closest is the same pair in 2 different sizes. Other close calls for sure - same cuts in different denims etc. Numerous fancy leather belts.. No. Native American Japanese jewelry.. No Jacket suitable for the Arctic.. Not Sufu approved, but I live in Michigan, so yea I have a heavy parka. It’s from Everlane. Unreadable Japanese language magazines.. No Dressed like a sailor.. No Dressed like a miner.. No Dressed like an urban lumberjack.. No, I don’t think so. Have you ever seen me in a flannel? Mill repro.. No Dressed like a railway worker.. No Stacked.. No Starch..No Freezer.. No Fancy socks.. Nothing Sufu, but I swear by wool, esp mohair socks. Again, this is more me being in Michigan, not a Sufu thing. Handmade English shoes.. No Whites Semi Dress.. No Discharge print.. No Own less than 10% of the clothing you bought since joining.. No Photo of jeans in bathtub.. No, they’ve always gone in a utility sink. Wore jeans wet..No. Damp, yes. £2000 leather jacket..No Numerous repro denim jackets all from same era.. Absolutely yes Bought jeans nobody else owned.. On Sufu, sure. The world? Probably not. Barf / Man stain / Shit oneself in jeans.. no Colored weft denim: I’ve had both black weft and garment dyed jeans Attended a meet up? No1 point

Size down craze: Nope Slept in jeans: Nope Diors: Nope Fancy wallet: Yes Engineer boots: Yes Ocean wash: Nope Resolute washing / fit having previously not: Nope Never washing: Maybe, I wore one pair (3Sixteen RH15) for about 11 months before the first wash. Coffee wash: Nope Slubby or streaky: Not really Heavy oz denimz: Yep, a couple pairs: Samurai S710xx (19 oz), Samurai S3000vx (17 oz), Flat Head 2111 (20 oz), never anything above that. Joined a contest: Yes Joined a tour: Nope APC: Nope Fancy washing detergent: Nope Worn denim while raw: With sanforized yes, unsanforized no. Paid for an expensive repair: Yes Wallet jewelry: Just (leather or metal) chains. Numerous pairs of very expensive boots: Yes Numerous pairs of identical jeans: Yes, several Flat Head 3005s. In total, I've worn at least five pairs made from this same denim. Numerous fancy leather belts: Yes Native American Japanese jewelry: Yes Jacket suitable for the Arctic: Not sure if my TFH down jacket counts. Unreadable Japanese language magazines: Yes, but I can actually read Japanese so I get a pass there. Dressed like a sailor: Nope Dressed like a miner: Nope Dressed like an urban lumberjack: Maybe Mill repro: Not sure Dressed like a railway worker: Maybe Stacked: Yes Starch: Nope Freezer: Nope Fancy socks: Yes Handmade English shoes: Nope Whites Semi Dress: Nope Discharge print: Nope Own less than 10% of the clothing you bought since joining: Probably yes, but I do still wear some Flat Head shirts and a few other things I've had since 2011-2012. Photo of jeans in bathtub: Nope Wore jeans wet: Not soaking wet, but if damp counts, then yes, multiple times. £2000 leather jacket: Never spent quite that much. My McCoys A-2 would probably qualify, if I'd bought it in Britain. Numerous repro denim jackets all from same era: Nope. Just one, at the moment. Bought jeans nobody else owned: Yes. Barf / Man stain / Shit oneself in jeans: Nope Colored weft denim: Yes. My first selvedge pair, in fact - PBJ XX-011 in 2011. Attended a meet up?: Yes. I actually organized a couple of them! I'm surprised by how few of these I've actually done, given that I've been around here almost 15 years now. Nowadays I incline towards dressing like a broke-ass farmer from a Russel Lee photo, but back in the day I pretty much just tried to dress like Sidney Lo, so I think I've pretty much always been somewhere on the SuFu style spectrum.1 point

Not that it’s a competition but my one wash DD-2001 just came in and it’s yet further proof as to why I love Banner so much. Type 1s suits my build far better than Type 2s - particularly my paper tag 2002 and Banner is also way comfier right off the bat. I can also actually button this up fully, comfortably. It’s a 44, 2002 is a 42, the largest size that was available. DD-2001 pocket on the left. 2002 pocket on the right. Very stoked.1 point

Late 40s jacket arrived in today. Super crispy still and in need of breaking in but very happy with the shorter fit compared to my 20s and all the ww2 detailing! The denim has a bit of a redder hue and is simple but hairy. Wrestled with getting the cinch back to buckle properly a bit but looking forward to wearing this practically daily going forward.1 point

Barker Black Archdale wingtip in antique chestnut calf. I've wanted these for about a decade but they were ridiculously priced. This used pair was a Christmas gift from my son and his husband. Love the crowned skull and crossbones motif on the toe, outsole, and insole. The design on the sole was made by hand with dozens of tiny brass nails. Amazing craftsmanship.1 point
