I like the Parker Knoll Statesman chairs. So I contacted a local upholsterer to ask if she'd be able to re-upholster one if I could find a chair. Better than that she said, I have just got hold of a knackered one to refurbish... the chance coincidence was too good to give up. Given the state the original was in, it was basically a new build based around the original frame. The twisting mechanism had to be repaired and is 'vintage rickety' which adds character methinks. There was fun and games with the fabric... the first boucle fabric sample held onto everything and was a nightmare to clean so that had to be replaced with new fabric... anyhow the job was finished in Dec 2023 so the chair's been in use over a year now and part of the family... Final pic there including recently received copy of Mongrel Kampung by our very own @oomslokop10 points

If you want to increase the number of wears, simply take them off halfway through the day, wait 5 minutes and then put them back on again!5 points

Flying blind on the fit, not sure how oversized they'll be (size 40 is new territory for me lol), so depending on the outcome they'll either be my dedicated all day every days at best, or my new dog walkers at worst. Either way I do plan to increase to a more normalized washing routine as I'm doing the no wash thing on my Ooe's which has caused damage to the crotch stitching. Excited to get this pair though! I will hold off on any other jeans purchases (excluding Ooe; Did I mention them enough yet?) through the duration of the contest in solidarity.5 points

I bought my last clothing item of 2024, yesterday. Picked up a Flat Head LS Glory Park off eBay for cheap. I will be going on a buying hiatus for the duration of this contest. I have done this a couple of times, but only for a year at a time, so wish me luck. For me, it's a good reminder of how easily I go from "wanting" something to telling myself I "need" it; it saves you a decent amount of cash but, crucially, "re-love" items I have forgotten about. Anything during that time that I know I won't wear or didn't enjoy wearing goes up for sale. My 311s will be a good steadfast reminder of keeping to that promise. I'm looking forward to starting this contest. Happy New Year, fellas!4 points

If these jeans fit, I'll be wearing them minimum five days a week for 12-16 hours... thing is, I have jeans I've worn for the same duration for one-plus years and they've barely faded 😂 I'm in this for the love of the game.3 points

This looks like what I see when I open up my laptop and my PC asks me ‘can you guess where this is?’. Beautiful shot!3 points

Just a note to say that overcast days are the easiest conditions to reveal accurate textures of something, especially if you make your pictures outside or near a window in a neutral colored environment. Color is a bit of a different matter - but all else being equal it’s not a bad bet as well. There are other variables of course, exposure and white balance - but cell phones tend to do a decent job at both these days. Noting this because sometimes I don’t quite understand the knock on the conditions to make a photograph - if it’s cloudy out it’s fine - preferable even - if it’s too dark just expose for the subject and not the scene around it (ie on your iPhone make sure the exposure is locked/based on the person or garment as opposed to the background) Do I apply any of this for Sufu pics? Pretty much no, lol. But, photography is actually my craft.3 points

Guess I've been on a bit of a Boncoura kick lately, grabbed this pullover hoodie yesterday. Tried on both the 40 and 42, went with the larger size and shrinking it now. Fabric isn't quite as beefy as the Freewheelers heavy weight fabric, but it's got a bit more texture. And sometimes those are too warm anyways. Apologies for the crappy photos, pretty cloudy today. I'll get a fit pic one day here soon once it's brighter out.3 points

I’ll wear mine for between one day and 546 days - whether they fit or not! My real hope is to get at least something like 3-400 days of wear, but summer, fit and other factors might come into play. Like the fact that my Ooe 01’s are just starting to be an actual broken in pair (after almost a year, and I’m enjoying them. If history is any guide, 546 days is probably not enough for me to thrash a pair (though I never did tally the wear on…anything), but the crotch may need reinforcing and darning by day 100ish, if I get there.2 points

I love the spirit, but y’all are setting yourselves up for failure with all this big talk…you don’t even know if the contest jeans fit you yet2 points

I love espresso, and have gotten my basic breville barista express - (with the stock grinder even!) down to the point that I usually pull better shots than most cafes I go to, or anywhere, for that matter. It brings me a lot of happiness to get up each morning and make my wife and my drinks, and sit down and write for awhile. I know a few local or Chicago area roasters that make wonderful espresso blends - medium roast, and consistently get nice creamy shots with very little bitterness or sourness. I know it gets deeper than that, but no need for us to do that. When I travel I’ll use a picopresso with a st Anthony millwright grinder and it’s more finicky for sure, but I get good results more often than not. I’ve gotten a few really good shots from it but the average is probably a little below what I get from a cafe. Still, for a travel set up, fantastic. I initially switched to espresso because I just can’t drink a lot of coffee without getting too anxious and feeling my heart pounding - usually a doppio a day and that’s it - on occasion a doppio or a moka pot of half caf (neither ever as good of course) before noon - and it was easiest to consistently dose my caffeine by pulling shots as opposed to Chemex or drip as I used to do. Every few months or so, I try to take 4-8 weeks off from caffeine as well. Tapering down helps minimize with the headaches. It’s a great way to understand how much of a psychoactive stimulant this thing really is and even though I tend to sleep well anyways, after a week or two of no coffee I get some of the best sleep ever, usually just about until I start drinking it again.2 points

I had missed this update and had just come to ask about it, so thank you! Exciting delivery week! This is a great idea and I had been considering doing something similar, I like the purity of it. I certainly won't be WEARING any other jeans, but I'm wondering if I can not BUY any for 18 months too - there are a few specific pairs I know I'll struggle to resist over 2025 & beyond. At the very least I want my WOMCON jeans to be a reminder to be much more mindful about purchasing.2 points

Mostly I've ordered FW shirts from them. I did buy a pair of 601XX at one point and the measurements seemed to be accurate.2 points

That looks to me like the tongue on the left (right shoe) is just twisting leftward creating the appearance of a sharper point. Not saying they're perfect, but I believe the photo is distorting the shape significantly.1 point

Absolutely agree. Don’t mind hitting a learning curve as I’ve been relatively lucky with sizing online prior to this. Was banking on the thigh measurement being closer to some other measurements listed online for the size 29 but it looks like the pair I received was slightly undersized in its variance. Reading about FC’s tendency to stretch certainly pushed me towards a smaller waist size, but given my thighs (which aren’t crazy but are just above 24’’ at about a 30.5’’ waist) I would have gone with a 30 in hindsight and just belted up and washed them frequently as you mentioned to prevent them from stretching too much. I will always value comfort and room over the ‘perfect fit’ in the waist going forward. Thankfully I was already able to sell them off and recoup some of my losses, which have since (of course) been rerouted into another pair I’ve been very interested in, the TCB 30s. This time with a 34cm thigh measurement as opposed to the 30cm my 0105’s had so should be supremely roomy in comparison! Thanks for your help regardless .1 point

Life has been pretty much revolving round the work we’re getting done to the house (side and rear extension and loft conversion) especially as we’re still living here. So it’s been nice to have a bit of a break over the Christmas period. I’m standing in my son’s new bedroom (from existing into the new extension). McCoys, Tender, Orgueil1 point

Just picked these up. Pretty fantastic jeans and remarkably accurate for an unofficial Lee-pro. High waist, slightly fitted top block, full legs, very slightly tapered to around a 9.5 in hem on size 34. Hairy and inky but not super starchy or stiff 14.5 oz RH twill. Quality seems on par As you can see pretty close to stich for stich to the Lee Archives version of the 1936 Cowboy 101b. It was impossible to resist these pockets. So good. Fugazi Union tag in back pocket. Clever lot number. 36101 B1 point
