Fours years sober today. One of the biggest and best changes I’ve made in my life.11 points

@smoothsailor it has been a real life changer for me. I was quite a heavy drinker and didn’t like that being the image my kids saw daily from me. Also I didn’t realize until I quit how much I was using it to self medicate and take the edge off daily situations or to deal with heavy stress of family gatherings.9 points

Few shots of the 220XX-54. Pardon the mud splashes had just got back from a dog walk on these! These fit great, there's something about this fabric that I love too. It's nothing above and beyond what Warehouse usually roll out, but there's a character to it that just sits right. It's less rough and textured than the WH banner denim, and it's thicker than dead stock blue which I find to be a touch toooo thin. I'll take some pics laid flat and alongside the worn in 47's for comparison at some point soon.6 points

Hmm yes, 'winky face' indeed. Nice to read but disappointing in the detail as usual. For example "Even the poorly done stitching on the waist belt is identical to the original". Looking at the two photos above that statement, it clearly isn't identical. The stitching in some of the other pics are different colours on the og compared to the lighter yellow of the repro. And l wish Sugarcane would take the flasher and ticket off for photo comparisons, as it blocks the view of the rear top block. Anyway I'm happy with my FW 1942'S 🙂4 points

My old man drank himself to an early grave, keeps me very aware of my consumption levels. Funny how 30+ years ago my family wanted to disown me for weed but sustained heavy drinking was absolutely normal!4 points

Yes, it's a double walled stainless flask which holds 400ml of coffee.. i made the coffee at 10am and it was still hot ...ish at 3pm when i finished my ride. As i've mentioned before.. when i was in my late teens - early 20s, i started to suffer from really bad insomnia, to the point where.. if i woke up at 1.30am after 2hrs sleep, i would lay awake till 6am and be exhausted the next day.. so i started going to work when i woke up, even if this was 1am.. While trying to sort this shit out in my early 30s, i stopped drinking coffee for pleasure and just started using instant coffee as wake-up juice.. i ride to work at 6am, make a horrible coffee with 3 of 4 heaped teaspoons of instant in a pint mug.. browse the webz for an hour while i'm drinking it, make another and start some work.. after this second cup, i'll only drink water for the rest of the day.. which means i drink loads of water through the summer but not nearly enough through the winter because it makes me feel cold .. My insomnia has been under control for a good 15yrs now apart from the occasional flare up in times of stress but i still don't drink caffeine after 8am.. The house we stayed in Sicily had a Bialetti pot so i was using that which made my shitty instant taste a whole lot worse when we got back.. i tried to up my coffee game back then but my sense of repulsion towards the online coffee influencers was overwhelming (what a set of fucking wankers coffee peeps are) i couldn't bear it so went back to instant.. ..anywho, family bought me a K6 Kingrinder for xmas along with that^ Velo Canteen and some swanky coffee from https://foundrycoffeeroasters.com/collections/coffee-beans .. i've had a low value parcel of bike bits waiting to be shipped from Zen for some time.. so i'v tagged a Kalita copper dripper onto it.. (they retail for £80 over here, it was £22 from Rakuten) with 200x Kalita filters for £7.19 They're still in Osaka but i'v been making coffee with an old french press this week.. i can't imagine i'll go back to instant after christmas so when the pourover biz arrives, i'll probably take the french press to work.. Next step will be drinking coffee again after 8am.. as any insomnia sufferer will know, it's not the caffeine keeping you awake, it's your brain telling you that you can't sleep because you've stepped out of the parameters you set for yourself..4 points

How bad was it Edwin? If I may ask. For me it’s 3 yrs now could be 4 to. My drinking wasn’t bad, a few beers in my weekends. But I was just done with it, it didn’t bring me anything. So might as well don’t do it4 points

I was never much of a drinker - seeing that in your extended family growing up can do that to a person, coupled with either being blessed or cursed with low tolerance. (I consider it a blessing) But we've got a lot of NA options now too which is great for some people I know, and myself, honestly, as I'll choose NA probably 60-70% of the time. But yea, the price of those things is bananas! Still, I'm glad to see more options that really do make the social occasions easier for so many. Coffee, now I have a more contentious relationship with that drug.3 points

Sober here too! Going on 2.5 years now! Mad respect for anyone else taking that plunge. As above, I never considered myself to be a problematic drinker, though some of those close to me were, and I could see myself going that way. It also brought me nothing positive when I looked at it objectively and with young children around I did not need the hangovers and associated physical and psychological symptoms. I've occasionally tasted the odd bit, but am always overwhelmed at booze just tasting like, well, booze. It's fairly disgusting. I have a really great alcohol free beer shop near to me that keeps me stocked up on unnecessary expensive drinks for now.2 points

The 221 is a BigE model, it shares details from the 220 and 224 as an in-between model. The 224 comes with the "standard 66 denim" and an "Ishikawadai denim". The cut should be the same but the latter is slimmer in the legs. Oh and an ecru and black version is also available of the 224 model.1 point

Hi all, just wanted to take a minute to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, most of all good health! These days people don't spend much time or thought on some personal words to their friends and family, they just copy and paste some random message and send it on. So after all we've been though together this year I want to thank you for your friendship and wish you a happy and fulfilling 2018 - you’re the best knitting forum anyone could ask for. Best wishes, Linda xxx1 point

Just joined the Denime thanks to @beautiful_FrEaK who happen to sell exact my size! Been eyeing Denime for years and happy to finally have a pair. Haven't decided yet if I should do a hot soak or just go for a 30degree wash low cycle. The denim is really nice and looking forward to see how they develop over time. It's Denime 221 with denim from Kurabo Mill1 point

Antique Cowboy Boots Pre 1930? Unknown maker. Seller said 1910s based on pattern, lack of toe bug stitch, construction, and rubber-less heels but I think they are probably a little later. Something about them just says 1920s or 30s. Heavy vintage leather is still flexible and supple, heels have bare leather and nail bottoms since this pair seems to predates the use of rubber on cowboy boots. Love the curves and last shape. The pattern is also a bit unique with a higher vamp like an engineer boot, and very similar to the Clinch cowboy boots made by @brasstokyo that I'm obsessed with. A similar vintage pair that clearly inspired Brass is included at the end. Love the evidence of the maker like crease running down the middle of the vamp where the leather was centered for lasting. And the best part? They are exactly my size and in perfectly wearable condition. Infrequently of course. Any info or educated guesses as to age or maker are very welcome and appreciated.1 point
