Back to the (cheap) roots. RW 875

Finally picked up a pair of all black engineer boots after years of looking around, went with the Attractions lot 444. Got these from Japan, they still had size 12 in their most recent restock so figured I'd give them a try. Initial impressions are really good, they are so much easier for me to get on and off compared to my Lofgrens. The leather is pretty thick, will try to wear these daily now that the weather has cooled off.

We had quite a few people trying to return their jeans when i was at SOAS because of leg twist. Mostly online orders. It's quite difficult to explain it to a novice without sounding like you're stringing them a line.

15/16 yr old redwing Beckman 9012. could be the most expensive pair of redwings. bought them from the us. Shipping and vat. worn them for a few yrs, than send them of to Tokyo, brass, to get them resoled. Shipping two way, tax, and the resole. Can’t find pictures of the resole. On paper I wanted it in real life it wasn’t the best choice. Double leather sole, half vibrant sole. Still worn them for a few more yrs. Than had them locally resoled to how they are now, ad another 100 euro. i wear them mostly now in my workshop and when there is snow, like today

Bit of a story behind the Millesimo. To members here, they are the very antithesis of what would be considered 'good', and have, more or less, every thing wrong with them; no selvedge (probably modern power loom), horrible 'Euro'-ish pre-wash, zipper fly, no chain stitch hem, tacky hardware / rivets, and zero allusion to repro, rather a modern regular tapered fit Barring the last bit (..."That '50s look can do one. Elvis has definitely left the fucking building"...) which suits me just fine, the other omissions still nagged at me sufficiently that I attempted to return them. Attempted. A few days after collection by whoever it was, DHL or whoever, they arrived back at my doorstep with a note saying I hadn't included a waybill or whatever. That's right. I hadn't. I wasn't provided with one beyond the other return forms that accompanied their return. I tried them on again. And again, found that despite what I (mistakenly?) considered error of omission that I couldn't get passed, they fit well. So I attempted to dye them. Fail. And no return now. So little other option than to keep them. Wore them for the first time in earnest out gigging and drinking last weekend in Liverpool. I now love them.

I find it surprising that we rarely see any unsanforized denim with broken twill unless it's a rare Wrangler-specific repro. Leg twist doesn't bother me much but I'm sure I'd enjoy something like a broken twill version of WH Banner denim.

Same Oshkosh jacket and Left Field jeans from my post yesterday, vintage ringer I just got a couple weeks ago, and Good Guys boots.

Post cold wash fit. Legs are nice and roomy, top is ever so slightly snug, but is already stretching out. Might do one more hot wash just to get whatever shrink is left out (lost an inch in the inseam with the first cold wash) but feeling like the sizing worked out pretty well!

TCB Wool-Lined 50's Jacket johng mung denim AJ5 I don't think I've mentioned this before. This jacket was impossible for anyone to repair, so I repaired it myself. And I painted it.

Cleaned up my trusty Rag & Bone Indy clones. Did a little digging and found that Grenson had a factory in Brooklyn around the time these were made and along with a few other clues it seems my long running mystery of who made these amazing boots is finally solved.
