this was pretty fucking great.  all first-hand footage.

 

opening scene is JFK's "We choose to go to the moon...we ask God's blessing on the most hazardous, and dangerous, and greatest adventure on which Man has ever embarked " speech.

 

movie goes on to capture that brilliantly.

 

most of space is a blackness that is almost, beyond conception.

 

I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to space bros.

not really but it does takes place immediately after the first so it will definitely make the experience a lot better and fill in some character back story. There are some references to the first but nothing that would significantly impact the story of the second. I still recommend watching the first, first.
