In my experience, only girls who grew up with brothers or someone who sees you as a friend only might use the word "bud" or "buddy" when addressing you, but honestly, there is no way to tell what the hell it means, so don't read too far into it.......

Not exactly related to your girl situation, but I don't think 'buddy' is necessarily condescending...I was at a restaurant one time, the bartender used "Hey buddy" a couple times and it came across as a pretty friendly greeting. I think it just depends on the tone it's delivered with, the facial expression, body gestures, all that good shit.
