i would say that it depends on the size of your thighs a lot. I sized down 1 to a 30, and my true hip measurement is a 32 and they fit perfectly. However, they are definitely pretty tight on the thighs and my thighs are pretty thin. It makes me wonder how the other few people that have posted evo pics of theirs decided to size, since i definitely have very defined honeycombs and contrast, while other people tend to end up a more overall fade apparently.

New shipment I would size down 1, old one I would size down 2. Unless you have thunder-thighs then true size on the new one and one down on the old one. If you want I can check them out for you at BiG when new shipment is in, I might be getting them as well.

Can someone help me with sizing for the S0110XJ? I'm undecided if I should go down 1 size or 2. Will the recent shipment at BiG have the same dimensions as when they were first released a few years back?

I sized down 1, to a size 30 like all my other jeans. These fit snug after a soak.

thats good cause they would eventully stretch out after a couple of weeks of wear..

Thanks guys. I have skinny legs, so I'm not worried about tightness in the thighs. I guess I'll be sizing down 1. :D

Hello, listed below are the dimensions of my ideal pair of jeans. As you can tell, I'm a really skinny dude. I understand that I should downsize ? But it seems like there's no size smaller than 28 already, lol. Any advice ?

Waist 28

Front Rise 10

Back Rise 13.5

Upper Thigh 20 (measured then doubled)

Knee 14 (measured then doubled)

Leg Opening 13 (measured then doubled)

Inseam 31

If you're not adverse to wearing girl's jeans, look at the Geisha, which comes in smaller sizes (its cut pretty much like a boy's jean...and back before most skinny models were widely available, lots of guys wore them).

What size should I be looking at ?

Probably 26 or 27. Speak to Gordon at BiG (if you're in the US) for sizing advice.

Alright. Thank you so munch gimmegimme, you've been such a great help all this while !

A quick check on samurai-j.com shows that they have size 26,27 for S5000VX on their website though. You think I can still go for this model ?

I compared the dimensions for size 28 actually, am I right to assume that the waist will shrink about 2 inches and the rest (less inseam) will shrink about 0.5 inches ? If that's the case, size 28 actually seems okay for a slim to regular fit.

Measurements from BiG (pre wash)

Waist 30

Front Rise 10.25

Back Rise 14

Upper Thigh 12

Knee 8.5

Leg Opening 8.25

Inseam 38.5

My Measurements (skinny to slim fit)

Waist 28

Front Rise 10

Back Rise 13.5

Upper Thigh 10

Knee 7

Leg Opening 6.5

Inseam 31

Sorry to bother you again, but I'm not based in the US. I intend to order from Samurai straight.

Definitely go for the S5000 if it comes in your size. I asked about that model a while back, and was told that it would shrink to the tagged size, then stretch out a size or two....so if you're a 28, it will be 30 when you get it, then shrink to 28 with a few soaks, then stretch back to a 30. I would go for the 27 which will end up around 28/29, or if you want to take the chance and deal with a painful stretch, a 26, which would probably stretch out to a 28 in time.

If you feel like doing the research, I'm sure there's some comments in this thread about that specific model, or you could ask Samurai directly (via email...someone probalby speaks english).

i think the s5000 and and the s0500 both have the same fit in the waist, hips and thighs. the only difference in terms of fit between the two is that the s0500 has a taper which begins after the knee.

sorry, dont know how they compare to stf.

^^correctahmundo, the s0500 are actually 0.5 inches bigger in the thigh and rise according to the BiG measuring charts. 710's might just be what you are looking for.

the leg opening on stf's is rather small kinda like the 710's, while the other two have larger leg openings. You could probably size up on the 710's and achieve the same fit as you would have on a stf.

i looked into getting a pair of geishas to have something different , they are pretty hard to find in wearable men's sizes (29-32) specifically the S0510Lxx

That's not gonna happen.

Here's why:

Dear

Thank you for your mail.

Just now, we have a Law Suit with Levis company.

So, I can not ship SAMURAI JEANS to any other country.

I feel sorry for it.

I can't do anything.

If you want to buy it, you can ask the store "Blue In Green" in N.Y

Thank you

Sincerely yours.

Toshiko

That suggestion was for the dude with the 28 waist looking to size down. BiG does have the ltd. edition geisha's in a 30 tho if if you're interested.

I was thinking maybe he's lucky enough to be in Japan...but if he was, he probably could have just tried them on and skipped all this hassle. Shitty for Mepp :(

Oh well. Do the Geishas really fit like the S5000VX ? I can't make sense of the measurements provided on samurai-j.com. Looks pretty weird, looks like the Geishas are a whole lot slimmer from the thigh down to the leg opening.

Otherwise I could just wait until the law suit settles down. Wonder how long that'll take.

Even if the lawsuit is over, the court order will always stand as precedent. So you won't have much luck getting them from samurai directly...unless of course they stop the arc-stitching completely...but lets not get into that again...there are too many threads on this already.

Mepp - starting trolling around Rakuten shops online for your size (you'll have to ask if they're willing to ship to other countries). Alternatively, email Gordon at BiG and ask about the pair of Geisha's they have compared to the S5000's. The website says they have a 27 in stock.
