Get those things in some water so we can see the fit!!! I'm anxious to see how "relaxed" they really are.

edit - Ed, I would like to own your Samurai denim tote bag. Please forward to me at your earliest convience at no cost. -Love GG ;)

the s5000's are way more slubbier than the s510xxai-n ... as in waaayyy... slubbier.. even the inside of the denim and the s5000 feels heavier ( the denim weight) than the s510xxai-n ....

So - the truth - which is the best ?

And - if I ever gain 20 pounds - or get pregnant - send me those Sam's/////

hahahaha for me the best? the best would be the s5000's for me cause they are half the price.. you can wear and tear them( very iindestructible ) look at the pictures worn by others here.. the s510xxai-n are like what you call a weekend jeans... like a ferrari you dont drive those everyday you drive your range rover right?

They're next to 5000's in that pic right? The cut looks almost identical.

hey gimme the cut is almost identical except that the s510xx has more tapering starting from the knee down.. and a higher rise..

I'm sure many of you know this already, but for those of you that don't, Toshiko at Samurai is the moderator for the Samurai threads at http://ringxring.com/forum/, and she welcomes suggestions on new designs, thoughts on tab/arc removal, etc. I know there are a few of you that are already speaking your voice, but I'm sure it would be great if more of us non-Japanese Sam's fans would sign up, as many of us have similar objectives.

Horriblyjollyjinx talks further about it on his blog (great reads on there btw...good job!).

no, no, my good friend! the better the denim, the more it deserves to be loved...right? plus, you get your moneys worth, and the appreciation for the quality.

So, I was thinking about getting some Samurai denim as my first Japanese pair...

I wear a 31x34 in Nudie Slim Jim and that fits pretty good, maybe a little too thin...

What cut should I get from Samurai?

Get the s5000vx or the s5000bk(black denim).

The s5000vx is a slimish cut? Is there a taper? I don't really like black denim, so I'll probably stick to the vx.

What about the s0500XX?

And how much do these bad boys shrink in a soak... do they need to be soaked?

Should I size up?

No sizing up! They need to be soaked....preferably hot washed to get all the initial shrinking out of the way. The 5000's are straight leg, the 0500's are tapered...its up to you on your preference. The 5000's are also 17oz., where the 0500's are 15oz. texas cotton. More info on BiG's website on the sizes, etc.

Sizing for the 5000's is debatable (I just ordered a pair and I went down 1 size). Some say true to size, some say down 1, and some say down 2. I guess it all depends on what sort of look you're going for and how much pain you're willing to endure!

the s5000 cut is slim straight but samurais "slim" isnt as slim as nudie sj so it will fit what you are looking for. I have the s0500xx and there is a slight taper but you barely notice it and they're also a "slim" cut.

Sizing wise i ordered the same size as my nudie size so if you are a 31 in nudies you can get a 31 in sammies because they shrink to tagged size. Although I probably could have sized down a size. And yes I soaked my jeans.
