experts - what's up with these levi's?

I doubt they could be fakes. I think it's more likely that the cut-off date for different features isn't as consistent as we'd all like and that the S501 code hung over to some of the post-war features. the arcuate stitching is different from anything I've seen from that period, but they're known to vary.

Personally, I wouldn't bid a huge amount for them without seeing them in the flesh. Besides, the leg length is a couple of inches short for me.

They are probably from right at the end or after the war. Levi's might not have decided that their jeans from then on would no longer have a crotch rivet or buckleback. They do have all yellow stitching, which is consistant with WWII Levi's. These jeans are gonna sell for a grip! They are in one wash condition and harly worn at all.
