Personal project, spare-time thing. It's an entertainment console. After shopping around for proper furniture, I can't justify 2-3k for something with some quality. And I'm not dumping a grand on pure crap.

Sorry I didn't document the rough box but it's pretty simple.

Box, finish panels, and faceframe are done. Faceframe needs some sanding and I need to make a bunch of ventilation holes.

Rails and stiles ready to mill, nicely quarter-sawn. I used the same stock for the faceframe but with less-figured sections. I really wish I'd had some matching plywood for the finish panels. I rarely keep extra stuff and I know I've thrown away plenty of smaller quarter-sawn sheet scraps over the years

From my stash, a really heavily-figured piece for door panels.

I'll update this project soon! I hope it comes together nicely. I'm burned out on oak, really sick of it tbh. But it matches our woodwork and I'm doing it as a built-in, tying in the base, installing to the wall, etc.

Beautiful weekend here in NYC...had more fun than i have in a long while, looking forward to another long week of 8 hour Mandarin classes.

From Saturday, had some great food (but shitty service, unfortunately) at Oh! Taisho, wandered a bit, and ended up in central park before heading out to the west village for a long night out. first weekend out for the Iron Hearts and some new white Vans which i promptly spilled whiskey on at the bar Saturday night...oh well.

Had been speaking to a certain other NYC based SuFu photog late last week, and planned a meetup and photog walk in Brooklyn. First time in the borough and I gotta say, between the sweet beer hall, the pretty rad denim shop, the street art, and the flea market we checked out today, it made this a pretty damn great sunday, and I really love Brooklyn now too...

anybody recognize my man here? Joelz is good people.

I might have to have him go through and identify the artists associated with some of these, I really have very little knowledge on any of these guys.

This surf shop right by the river was waaaay out of place in Brooklyn (but still a real great looking place), and there were a ton of cats living on the sidewalk, cat food. my lumbering self scared the cat away that was originally supposed to be in this shot.

Went to SF yesterday, mostly to go shopping for a dress for the gf, but did get a chance to stop by sesf. always a pleasure to see lots of jeans! I'm an slr novice. My brother recently got a new one, so I got his old d60, not great at using it. I also used lightrooom a bit, not too creative or great at that either as you can see haha. I also forgot to take a picture of myself all day....but anyway, going to SF is always cool. I'm from a little non-bustling city, so seeing so many people in the streets is always new. Also stuff painted on walls was interesting!

I agree saintkeat, It was shot from the hip so that's the only good one i got of her leaning out the train unfortunately. I think she was waiting for someone to get on the train with her.
