stop editing, i can't keep up.

@brane - you think your boys at 4sevens got greedy? why would they pull stuff like that, knowing how educated their base is?

i honestly don't know. david at 4sevens is sticking to his guns on this one, but with such a vociferous niche customerbase at CPF giving him nothing but disapproval, he's expressed some reluctance to even continue making more of these lights.. not even in aluminum or w/o the batteries.

he's had some insiders from CPF try to talk him out of the program but he didn't budge. some optimists say that $99 for a titanium CR2 light is still a great bargain, because in the past those would go for 250-500 (like a larry light or something).

his basic response is that he's trying to do something new for once, and would like not to be berated for testing the waters. general CPF consensus is that the light itself is a beauty, but it's the marketing that's a deal breaker..

the whole ordeal is interesting but disappointing.

EDIT: this kinda move also makes people wonder about 4seven's little dispute with EagleTac in the past.. and nitecore as well.. remember those? maybe wild style can chip in because i am clearly not a business major or whatever

Keep in mind that these are CR2 cells, NOT CR123a cells. ......

Ah, missed the part about the CR2s instead of 123as. Any pros/cons from cr123 vs. cr2?

I don't know as much about this as you do, and if I'm misinformed let me know. I'll just stick with AA and 123s for now :)

edc related: I used my crkt peck to cut out JB weld on a chandelier I was fixing the other day.

CR2 i think are commonly used in the photography world..

they offer an even smaller form factor than the CR123s -- they're shorter with a diameter somewhere between an AA and a CR123, but they provide the same 3.0V in a primary cell. so you get a lot of energy in a really small package, which makes it good for EDC lights where both size and power are top priorities.

i would naturally assume because it's smaller it would have a shorter runtiem than a cr123, but i might be wrong. also there are no protected rechargable CR2s (AW stopped making them for some reason) so that's sort of a disadvantage..

I'm planning a few Vegas trips soon. I want to add a nice flask for EDC purposes. Any suggestions anyone wanna give me? I just want something that can hold enough hard a to keep me from buying real drinks or just making the ones I do buy more potent. It also must fit in one of my pockets.

Aren't drinks free if you're gambling??? just sit at a shitty slot machine and move around a bit once in a while to keep the alcohol flowing while spending as little cash as possible... just an idea. But I have a simple flask with no ornamentation on it...you could probably grab it at any store that sells engravables (sp) or such.

Yeah I'll have to hit some mall up later. Drinks are free on the casino but if you order any sort of mixed drink its incredibly watered down and terrible. The only thing worth getting are beers but that's more of a sipping deal. Hard a gives me the efficiency I want. And who wants to sit at shitty ass slot machines?

What's so special about the 4Sevens CR2?

You can't really use the high mode since the titanium would overheat the light way too fast especially with it's compact size right?

And isn't the high mode the selling point with the Minis?

I think 4sevens should add a 90lumen setting to their Minis and a click version.

You don't want to use high with voltages exceeding 3.0V. The 4sevens CR2s are primary and do not exceed 3.0V, unlike lithium ion chemistry (3.7-4.2V, rechargable.. Except for LiFePO4 chemistry)

these lights are safe to use on high with the provided cells. They're still really small and made of titanium so I don't understand the logic behind this -- there's even less to dissipate the heat.

But tbh I don't use my minis for their high mode, small backup lights like that are more suitable for low light or gneral purpose with long runtimes on a keychain or something..

Huh? They have a mini AA and a Preon I to cover compact AA and AAA formats.

Edit: oh, you mean me personally? I like the peace of mind that f necessary I have 189 lumens at my disposal. And I'm the weirdo battery guy.

i'm sorry but you're misinformed or you had bad experiences. go, order straight liquor, TIP, and the lady will come back. it works , its legit. you can get drunk. mega drunk. i did.

don't stay at the slots, just order there. go walk around and then come back.

Finally, and most impt, you can have liquor up and down the strip. like while walking. wait till you get there, and you will see all sorts of "flasks."

ex: foaf bought hollowed out guitar. Maybe 20 percent smaller than a full size acoustic. Walked around with it for the whole weekend. He bought it full of margarita(s) and then refilled.

I know you can get liquor anywhere. It's vegas, duh. I can see a few advantages to having a flask. The biggest and best one is that unless I drink it all I will have alcohol whenever I want, instantly. I don't have to pay $10 for a drink or like $13 for a crazy guitar drink. I can stow it away in my pocket instead of having to dedicate a hand to hold a glass or cup that could potentially spill all over me and If I do end up getting a weak drink, I can spike it some more. It sounds fun too and I figure that carrying a fat tuesday around has as much of a novelty factor as carrying a flask does.

I've never tried ordering straight liquor on the casino floor, at least from a waitress. I figure they just wouldn't give you much but I'll have to try it the next time I go. When I do get drinks I tip a dollar. It's not much but it's a tip and she does come back. I guess I wasn't clear about that, I'm not that cheap I swear. I've had no luck getting drinks at slots though :(

why would you want to be drunk when you're gambling?

As long as you're not an asshole gambler or losing an assload of money why wouldn't you be? It's fun as shit.

I think he meant you can drink outside, too.

yes this is what i mean.

and boss, do you realize how much liquor will fit into a hollowed out guitar..? we're talking gallons.

whatever you do, don't pay for drinks on the casino floor. i'm sure you'll have drunken fun either way, CHEERS!!

edit: if your gonna chill in one casino for long. sign up for their club, waitresses look for people with cards. do not pick a hot waitress, you will be out spent. tip ten the first time, especially if she is ugly or slow. schmoozing an ugly waitress will get you drunk and be good laughs later.

Late to the thread but I bought one of the Quark CR2s and although I was taken aback by the battery program (and to a lesser extent the choice of titanium re heat dissipation) it seems like the clear next level keychain light? I can post some impressions when it shows up.

next level, clearly.

do post impressions!

let us know how you like it. specifically what's up w/ the threads, if there's any play/mode skipping/grittiness what have you.
