I sell the following items, because I accidentally bought them one size too small. Got them 11D afterward and now those beauties are getting bored in my closet.

Hi,

as it seems that there is no clear understanding how the 19XX versions differ from the 90XX (european re-release due to demand), here are the main differences:

19XX Series:

The Gentleman Traveller series from Beckman was re-released for the 100th Anniversary of Red Wing, as well as the special 100th Anniversary Centennial Collection (only 1905, 1906, 1908, 1909). These were a collaboration with Horween leather, which had a birthday to celebrate as well, using superior leather from their factory and an acid-etched logo.

Shoes which were released in this series were:

1909 from the Centennial Collection (dark brown)

With the 1909 (as well as the 1905, 1906 and 1908, which are not Beckman boots) the acid-etched logo on the boot is different compared to all other re-released boots made from Horween leather. The logo actually looks like this, with an acid-etched '100' instead of 'Red Wing Shoes':

1911 (black cherry)

1913 (tan - bad picture, but they turn out reddish light brown)

1914 (black)

90XX Series:

The heavy demand, especially from Europe and Japan, underlined the idea to continue the Beckman boots. Nevertheless, Red Wing used their own 'default' feather stone leather again and did not reinitiate the collaboration with Horween's superior leather line.

Next to the superior leather and manufacturing of the boot (stitching and especially the whole interior), these boots were also lacking the acid-etched logo on the outer side of the boots.

Shoes which were released in this series according to timeline:

9011 (black cherry - autumn 2007)

9014 (black - autumn 2007)

9013 (light brown - autumn 2008)

The big dis-/advantages of the 19XX series are:

+ superior and softer leather from Horween (20% more moisture than common leather)

+ superior stitching

+ superior interior

+ softer sole and 'insole'

- softer cap

- faster wear signs

The big dis-/advantages of the 90XX series are:

- inferior/hard to break in sturdy feather stone leather

- inferior stitching (just minimal though!)

- inferior interior

- hard to break in sole and 'insole'

+ sturdy cap

+ nice matching leather inlay on the heel with logo

+ takes time to wear in and to have serious signs of wear (that could be another minus for some of you, I guess ;-)

Get the 19XX if you can - your feet will worship you for that!

And be cautious - dealers tend to label their 90XX stock as 19XX stock! Always ask if it is really the 19XX 100 yrs. Anniversary or 100 yrs. Centennial Collection (onyl 1909 for the Beckman boots)that you are buying!

Give some feedback, if this post helped you or you spotted some mistakes!
