I'm in Austin now, but a lot of my family's down in Houston. My parents said that they were going to ride it out. "Whatever, it's just a storm," my dad said. "What's the worst that could happen? A few windows break."

Was kind of worried about my grandma, since she's almost eighty and lives alone. But my parents carted her off to her brother's house, which is about an hour more inland, so she should be OK, too.

My friend in Galveston refuses to leave his house. Told him to come stay with me (3 hours North of the coast) but he won't do it. Probably the last time I'll ever talk to him...

:(

what the fuck? weather services called "certain death" for those who remain in galveston. you friend has some cojones.

checking in from Houston. SW/Bellaire area:

clouds are getting darker

streets are empty

trees are blowin

feels like Armageddon in my city

Ike is set to touch down in 3 hours

I just ate me some Com Ga Nuong at my dad's house and I'm ready to ride out the storm.

wearing me some fresh a.p.c.'s for them hurricane fadessssss

winds have picked up dramatically

driving home there were trees on the side of the road

purple/violet skies and teal/green lighting

gas stations still opened

street lights are down

ran every red light home

a few cops on patrol

and this is all amazing. wouldn't trade it for nothin

probably gonna be my last post for a few days

I've gotta relocated to a house that is boarded up

they say it's going down by midnight maybe 3 a.m.

first causality has been reported: a kid was killed as his dad chopped down a tree (in preparation for the hurricane) and the tree landed on him

Peace Superfuture. It's been a pleasure reporting live events of Hurricane Ike.
