question about levis 1947 501xx

i've just bought a pair in my exact size, and don't intend on washing it for a while.how will i be able to wash the jeans(when the time comes), get whiskering, and also avoid or minimize shrinkage? i've searched the forum but could not find a concrete answer. thanks in advance

Dry clean them. You do get whiskering eventually.

In the end I suspect you'll give in and wash them conventionally, in which case use cold water to minimise shrinkage; then stretch them, perhaps by wearing them, as they dry. I rinsed my newish pair in coldish water for half an hour to get some shrinkage, shorten the legs a little bit, and they've shrunk by much less than 10 per cent... maybe five per cent.

will you get any shrinkage with dry cleaning? i've heard some places dry clean with steam and some don't....i assume the steam with shrink the jeans and the non-steam dry clean will not...any truth to this?

Also the leather tag can get jacked up in the dry cleaning process.
