I could eat this shit by the pound. Chicken wings are like my favorite cheat food,

chicken wings are a cheat food?

:(

isn't it all protein?

when I put them in the deep fryer I don't add any breading, just season them and drop them in

isn't that good for a mostly protein diet?

^ Nope, I wish that were the case man

Deep frying helps to kill any nutrition that was in the wings, they still have protein but are loaded with more fat. not breading them helps, but not much

Heres a comparison between chicken breast and wings

Chicken Wings ( 1 wing battered and deep fried) ( a measly 1.7 oz)

Calories 159 (664 kJ)

% Daily Value 1

Total Fat 10.7g 16%

Sat. Fat 2.9g

14% Cholesterol 39mg

13% Sodium 157mg

7% Total Carbs. 5.3g

2% Dietary Fiber 0.1g

1% Protein 9.7g

Calcium 9.8mg

Potassium 67.6mg

Chicken Breast ( 4.9oz)

Calories 170 (711 kJ)

% Daily Value 1

Total Fat 4g 6%

Sat. Fat 1g 5%

Cholesterol 85mg 28%

Sodium 480mg 20%

Total Carbs. 2g 1%

Dietary Fiber 0g 0%

Sugars 1g Protein 33g

The difference is friggin insane, and the deep frying kills nutritional values and how you digest the food. The chicken breast is more then twice as big, and has half the fat of 1 wing.

damn son, you fucking me up right now

if I get some chicken breast and throw that on the grill would I be aight?

what kinda protein do you eat when you dieting btw

Yeah, it can be a pain in the ass to find out what you thought was great is really shit, but the shit tastes so damn good

Grilling chicken breast is probably the best choice, its right up there with baking it as far as health goes. But grilling tastes far better IMO

For dieting and general health anything like lean beef, chicken breast, lean cuts of pork arent too bad, lean veal. I find sticking with one type of meat gets really boring, I always mix up meats as well as spices/seasonings to keep things interesting

The above plus protein shakes keep me going

alright so i've been doing starting strength for a little more than 6 months now. i've been eating pretty clean but i've developed more of a gut :(

what kind of diet/work out routine do i do now to cut?

currently diet is about 1.5lbs (3 x .5 lbs) of chicken breast, bowl of oatmeal, fruits, 1 PBJ whole wheat sand, 1 cup of brown rice, and a bunch of steamed broccoli daily. also 6 egg whites if i'm still hungry late night studying. three scoops of whey on lifting days, 2 scoops on off days.

starting strength MWF, resting on the weekends.

thanks meatheads!

all you've to do to cut is have a caloric deficit and do cardio. only take in 1g of protein per pound of body weight too.

Yeah, I agree. Depending on your weight and your goals, you want to generally be quite a bit heavier before you start your cut. Seeing as how summer is ending, now is the best time to start/continue bulking. To cut, try to continue doing your current routine but basically eat less and do more cardio.

thanks for the replies. i'm currently at my goal, 6'3'', 200lbs but just not as cut as i want to be. i guess i need to put on at least 5-10 more pounds of muscle before cutting.

just not fitting into my jawnz no more know what i mean?

edit: when i do decide to cut, when should i throw in my cardio? after starting strength on MWF? or should i do it on my off days...

I usually throw like 20-25 minutes on the elliptical after working out, and then do like 40 minutes or so on an off day. If you're doing steady state cardio, you can do it whenever. If you're going to do HIIT, do it on an off day.

I'm just wondering what protein supplement that you guys r using.

I used to have ON gold standard whey isolate. Now, I have ATW whey isolate. I knew ATW from this thread : )

I am planning to try VP2 whey isolate, but its darn pricey.

Is VP2 better than ON or ATW?

A lot of what your paying for is brand name with whey once you go for "high end" store bought stuff.

The best thing to do is read the label, look for not only %100 isolate, but be sure that the isolate is not followed by "concentrate" or "cross-flow filtered whey" ect. It still contains %100 isolate, but is a blend. So up to %50 of the rest \of the product could be lesser quality whey

ATW is great stuff, and the cost is very reasonable. I would recommended to stick with what works

There is always a new " unheard of" advanced delivery system or " subjects gained %500 more muscle) supplement every year. After reading this

n a double-blind, controlled research setting two groups of experienced, equally matched, drug-free bodybuilders underwent a 10-week intense training program Max-OT style! One group supplemented their diet with VP2 Whey Isolate, the other group used an equal amount of a standard protein supplement (found commonly in many supplements). The results obtained by the bodybuilders using VP2 Whey Isolate amazed everyone, even the elite team of scientists at Victoria University that performed the research.

VP2 Whey Isolate produced:

  • an average gain of 11 pounds in pure muscle
  • a decrease of over 3 pounds in body fat without dieting
  • a 110 pound increase in the bodybuilder's best squat
  • a 45 pound increase in the bodybuilder's best bench press

I tend to lean towards the bullshit side of things. They dont claim what it was used with, these guys could have been on 20 other supplements as well ( or juiced) to acheive those results. Likewise they dont state what kind of protein it is compared against

I am guessing it was judged against the cheapest and least soluble whey concentrate ( or even caesin or others) which is completely unfair.

They wont even state what type of protein it was compared against, I wouldnt waste your money IMO
