boys don't cry, disintegration, concert / curiosity

outside of that they were mostly a singles band.

best cure b-sides: do the hansa, pillbox tales (boys don't cry 12" remix)

Three imaginary boys

Japanese whispers

Wild mood swings

Brilliant band. I heard a little of their new material recently. Sounds like some early-90s Cure again.

YOU ARE ALL FUCKING INSANE. ALL OF YOU. ALL OF YOU. ALLLLL OF YOU.

come on. how can you people actually choose Wish? Wild Mood Swings? are you serious?

fans of the Cure's poppier output fail to make any sort of sense to me.

yeah, robert smith writes great pop songs, but that's simple enough. marrying that sort of songwriting talent to darker material is where i think the Cure happens to shine the most.

NO ONE SAID PORNOGRAPHY? NOT ONE OF YOU? FOR FUCKING SHAME.

Seventeen Seconds

Faith

Pornography

as far as b-sides, nothing can ever top "the exploding boy"

pr0nagraphy used to be my favorite album - the production hasn't dated well so i favor concert instead (pr0n tour), surely its blinding rendition of hundred years of blood is familiar to you.

actually bloodflowers isn't too bad. wish and kiss me x 3 are pretty wretched though.

tangentially related: i bought hyena not too long ago, not too shabby.

the version of 100 years on concert is, indeed, thunderously good.

have you heard the remastered version of pornography? it doesnt make up for

every single gripe, but it does give it a very welcome update production-wise.

much cleaner sound, the mid-range has been cleaned up a lot... check it out

if you haven't.

i actually really like bloodflowers. most people pan it completely, but i think it

is a really solid record. it is a little meandering and languid, but that's kind of one

of the things the cure do better than anybody else.

are you talking about the siouxsie and the banshees record? if you liked that at all,

you should give a listen to their live record that they recorded with robert smith on guitar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturne_%28album%29

Seventeen Seconds

Faith

Pornography

I have never paid attention to the Cure, by going by the wife's iPod, I guess these are her favorites.

i am just getting into wish now, i am surprised i like it, actually. it was the emblem of my cure backlash for many years.

i always return to boys don't cry. so lean and athletic. so excellent an album.

in this season, Head on the Door and Kiss Me are just right. come fall or winter, pornography, faith, disintegration, enter the mix.
