hey guys dont kill me for opening a new thread on lee again.

but lee japan has some new models out.

i just checked their site.http://lee-japan.jp/

you have to click on the archives section

there is a new 101J jacket from the 30s, wich is diffent in details from the 1937 version and the similar 1944 one.

and there is a new 101B from 55, with half selvage and the original 1950s lee woven label on the inside of the waist.

i also love the 191LB jacket wich alonside with the 91B looks to be new on the site too.

they also have a nice detail summary on both jackets and jeans

so check it out

kind regards

Cool. I think the Edwin-made Lees are really under-appreciated, especially considering the price they sell at in Japan. I saw a woman with a pair of knackered Hair-on-Hides on Sunday and they looked terrific. I'd get a pair if I didn't have two Euro reissues under the bad...

yes paul, i am really a lee fan.

wonder how the 55 101b is cut. strange it is half selvage.would be intersting to know how accurate the edwin lee repros really are. pity there is more talk about the LVC repros, and not so much details information on the lee.

i also saw yeatserday that Real mccoys has a new 101j out wich looks a bit different in cut then the edwin lee one. the cut of this years edwin lee 101J 1946 is bigger then last years.

and so on.......

In the main they seem very accurate to me, altho there's less documentation on the originals than with Levi's. But mid 50s 101 Lees were definitely half selvage - I think they went to half selvage at the time they narrowed the jeans, some of their late 50s jeans look very slim indeed from photos.

well i think the woven label on the new 55 101b is very accurate to the mid 50s lees. i have seen close up on james deans 101z from giant with the same label. on the other side the lee he did wear private is a 101z with full savlage. i think you write in your book that lee had both half and full salvage in the 50s. i guess the 55 is cut like the 52 101z. i dont have the 59 101b but from what i know it is cut a bit fuller.

  • 1 year later...

not sure if this belongs here but i've just picked up a pair of 101z and i'm pretty pleased with them. lightweight dry denim which doesn't make my balls sweat in tropical climates.

got a pair tagged 31X34 but measured 33X35.5 before soak. gave 'em an hour of hotsoak and shrank 1 size but stretched back out very quickly and leg twist developed quite nicely.

question is, should i get them chain-stitch just for yucks?
