Some new designs of wallets,

Using brown cowhide leather, with veg tan leather on exterior as design trims.

Some of us doesn't like wallet concho to be ripping holes through the backpockets of our jeans. Here is one design, we sunken the concho into the leather surface instead of just protruding out. This way should be able to avoid causing rip holes in backpockets.

Can anyone make a 6 slot card holder with a middle slot for cash? Simple, basic, and flat with nice natural leather?

I'm sure most can (you can too!). something like this? just do a folded piece with 2 extra card slots on either side, and 2 pieces of leather for the cash slot in the middle. then sew it up.

That's pretty much what I have in mind for my 1st stitching project. May use a piece of selvedge denim in there for the middle slot.

Is this something that can be done without a vice to hold everything in place or does that make it somewhat difficult?

lendo put me on to tandy leather goods, they have a store here in town, so i've been going there the past month getting little stuff i can make for myself, instead of giving redmoon or Kc, wildswans a grip. i can't wait for my little projects to evo. i love indigo stains on leather. does anyone have experience with tandy? they all seem great so far. the leather for the belt i ''made'' is uberthick, and looked like russian skin(no offense, i love you white people) before i gave it a shea-massage. i've been told shea is bad for saddle leather, but you know me...the lady at tandy told me she supplies leather for some of the high-pried japanese companies...

salaami, you're going to love leathercraft! you'll soon find that tandy isn't necessarily the best place to find actual leather though. look around for your local tanneries and in some cases you'll find much better deals and higher quality pieces.

tandy is a wonderful resource for those getting into everything for the first time. They offer a lot of free classes, and in my experience everyone that works at/runs them are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. while they are a retail store, and their leather isn't as cheap as most independent tanneries, I've got a lot of respect for the folks that run em.

Another Trucker-inspired wallet done.

Using black cowhide leather, with lambskin lining for smooth and classy internal. And a Yen-sized dollar slot.

They also seem to have a lot of sales if you get on their mailing list. I've gotten some nice cowhide at ~25% off.

i'm making my first attempt at a wallet, simple bi-fold, covered with samurai denim(not sure about the weight of the denim, it's some red&silver selvage gordon sent me a while ago). i hope this goes well...

What a coincident :)

I just completed something similiar, in a long wallet style. I was thinking of a denim x leather for quite some time back, just nice I had to hem a Levi's, so instead of wasting the cut out denim, I make use of it for my leathercraft. Was actually thinking of taking better pics to show, but saw your post and so might as well post a preview before taking better pics for my blog :)

It is cowboy inspired, using Veg Tan leather, Levi's 501 selvage (the new ones) hemmed leg, longhorn concho, handstiched. Wallet rein not done yet, I'm using my old wallet rein. It was fun and challenging doing it, denim is not like leather, though easier to stitch but difficult to put it in shape. And the messy part is the loose ends at the cut-out edges. However, the process is satisfying :) Hope u will enjoy it too, salaami :)

Here are the pics, sorry for the crap pictures. Give me some feedback, Thanks :)

Is adding a zipper very difficult with leather? I've been using Tandy leather video guides (michaelttizzle, you should check out Tandy Leather Factory website and look at their instructional videos) but there isn't any information on zips. I'm hoping I won't need any special machinery.

It is actually quite easy for straight zipper, just that it may be difficult to explain in words, I'll try though.

I'm assuming u are making a coin pouch/case.

For simple zipper pouch/case, on the peice of leather, cut an opening for your zipper in the middle. Secure the zipper from behind, stitch it together with the leather. Now u should see the leather with zipper stitched up in the middle. Fold the leather and stitch up the edges, u got yourself a zipper pouch.

Hope I've explain clearly :)
