state your beer, drinkers

Had Goose Island Bourbon County Stout tonight with a friend while brewing, and I have to say, I am very disappointed with this beer. It was entirely way too sweet, it was like sucking a caramel candy while drinking a mocha. The bourbon flavor came on in the end, but it was a bit harsh and overwhelming. The alcohol we very present and the carbonation was too low making this a difficult beer to finish.

What are others thoughts?

randomly went into the store to see if they had lucky bastard and to my suprise, i got the last bottle of lucky and bottle of pliny without the rape fees. If im not lazy to drive out to stone then i think ill just do the nice thing and save the lucky for my wife since she cant drink.

@Stylish Pilot

Was in Jonesboro last night, stuck to drinking Diamond Bear stuff all night. Tried the Pale Ale, Celebration IPA, Paradise Porter, and Rocktoberfest. My first experience with Arkansas microbrews.. pretty standard but I enjoyed drinking something from my home state :D

From about a week and a half ago in Manhattan:

Tröegs Mad Elf

AleSmith Yulesmith

The Mad Elf was pushing it with the sweetness.. really syrupy mouthfeel with a big cherry presence.. it was almost cough syrup-ish.. was surprised at how much I actually didn't enjoy this beer after reading all the hype on the BA forum.

The Yulesmith on the other hand was very tasty, loved every aspect of it. The bottles I got were fresh so the hops were still nice and bright. Liked it so much I actually drank two bombers by myself :o

I'm a huge fan of The Bruery, but this was just too much for me. The overpowering raisin flavor in the front reminded me of DFH's Raison d'Extra, and it ended really dry with pears coming through which I found to be just an odd combination.. luckily, my 90 year old grandmother took a sip and liked it quite a bit, so I split the bottle with her. First time (and probably the only time) I'll ever drink a beer with her. Kinda made my Christmas :o

I had their "Autumn Maple" and had trouble finishing it. Sometimes these "flavored beers" are just too much for me.

I shy away from any brew flavored.

Their wild ales are delicious although they don't produce any of them regularly. Also, their saisons are really well done.. I can always drink a Saison de Lente.

Oh, and about Lucky Bastard, yeah, that beer is pretty awesome :D

That's my favorite Flying Dog offering HH although I DO like the name

I'm okay with the name too, it's just my son read the bottle and said, "Dad, you sure buy the worst names in beer."

He also was referring to the "Lucky Bastard" I bought the day before...

Gonzo Imperial Porter and said Raging Bitch are both decent, though certainly next level

artwork is cool

I need to pick up some Lukcy Basartd for my trip to Brazil, my brother in law really enjoyed the Stone brews when he was here, so I think I will bring him a few bombers as late Xmas presents

We are going to check out a new micro brewery in his city: http://www.novojornal.jor.br/publicadas/outubro/24-10-2010/Caderno_02.pdf
