Paramedics Cut Away My Jeans :-(

Some people are in shock/denial even when other people die. Imagine how much more devasting it'd be to know that you could have died yourself. It's not exactly something that sinks in after a few days. I think it'd be a life-changing experience for most people. But hey, I'm only a Kaiser bereavement councillor. Maybe you're right though. Some people are tough. He could just be a badass if you would like to imagine it so...

wtf, nobody died. HE CHEATED DEATH. let him (and us) have our moment of fun. HE DEFEATED A PICKUP TRUCK.

if you feel so bereaved you can always look into a mirror and counsel yourself

One of the best, hardcore threads we've had. Props for your denim devotion, and even more for surviving.

I think you should see if Denim Doctor or someone can patch them up. Free, for the publicity. Imagine the kudos they'd get - "these guys jeans weer attacked by a truck... but we rebuilt 'em'! Robocop Nudies!

How long do we all have to hold hands and sing songs of praise for how lucky dude was before we can make humorous posts about the state of his jeans. I would think that the heavy, sincere, life-changing aspects of this situation might be more relevant in this guy's...how should I put this...real life (you know, friends, family etc.). Perhaps thats a more appropriate forum for personal revelations and transformations due to a near-death experience than a bunch of relatively anonymous internet denim fiends. If SuFu is such a large part of this guys life that we are collectively responsible for solemnly reminding him of the seriousness of his own injury, than his problems extend far beyond the injuries he just sustained. That said, I am glad to hear he is alright, as I know how bad bike accidents can be...its scary stuff. I think you should finish the job and make them your lucky riding (short) shorts. I may even suggest making a super-diy tank top or t-shirt along the lines of "I got hit by a fucking truck, and all I got were these (insert humorous adjective of choice) shorts" to go along with it. Best of luck with the healing, hopefully you will be out skidding up a storm and breaking in some SExIH03s in no time.

glad to hear you're okay. same thing damn near happened to me just the other night. i can't stand crossing at bigger intersections anymore... you can wait on the crosswalk and walk/run your bike and go the full 9 yards and lots of drivers can still be completely unaware of pedestrian traffic, or just flat out screw up trying to beat red lights and end up cutting through your right of way.

your big toe is so far apart from your second toe =////////////////

Haha, I get that a lot, actually.

Yes, this is kinda where I'm standing. While I was extremelly shocked after what happened, I'm feeling a lot better (+percacet), and ready to make a little bit of fun of the situation.

I came within inches of my own death, and this was the first thought during the accident. As I was upside down, flying through the air, I could not have been more terrified. I am incredibly lucky to even be alive. If any of the variables had been off by millimeters, I could have struck my head against anything, and snapped my neck in an instant. It is a humbling thought.

Thanks to all the kind words and thoughts, and thanks also to those words of humor. It all helps.

And to answer someone elses question, I have not filed a claim, but the guy's insurance called me and said they'd reimburse my property loss (i.e. bike, jeans, medical deductibles).

If I do repair the jeans... any recommendations as to how?

if anything, you could have weird asymetrical shorts that might be cool, tear the fringes maybe. one leg ends at your combs and the other is quite short.

i defnitely think frankenudies will look horrible though. one leg is opened up and they're both chopped off, there's going to be some kinda line going horizontal across.

i say frame em up instead and tell the story to your grandchildren as a tale of overcoming the odds whilst being fashionable.

and yea, spend the 200 on some nice new jap repros.
