Dying Denim?

I have an old pair of JRs whish started life as Blackest black over dyed.

they havent worn great this past year an now look like a old pair of topman jeans.

so i want to dylon them...am i a retard or is this going to look awesome?

I still can't figure out if the double entendre was intentional or not.. Denimisdead desires dyeing dying denim?

did the same to a pair of Diors i wasnt happy with after a couple washes...

came out looking better than expected. used black RIT dye which made the jeans turn SUPER dark with a hint of reddish purple hue.

How did you get the stitching to stay orange? Excuse this noobish question, I've never dyed anything before.

Just ordered the dye and 500g of salt. Oh yes.

How come the stitching on those diors are still orange, some sort of colour fast?

500g of (table?) salt and 1 package of rit dye in bucket - are there any tricks to this? or do you just dump the table salt and rit and jeans and stir?

  • 4 weeks later...

2 packets Rit black dye powder

1 cup table salt

1 tbsp Woolite dark

3 gallons near boiling water

1 bucket

1) Turn faucet to the hottest setting and soak jeans in hot tap water.

2) Heat some water on the stove.

3) In the bucket, add 4 cups of really hot water and dye. Stir until dissolved.

4) Now add 1 cup salt and 1 tbsp Woolite.

5) Add the rest of the hot water, while stirring.

6) Remove soaked jeans and wring out a bit of the water.

7) Put jeans into dye bucket.

8) Stir vigorously for 5 minutes, then let sit. Stir again every 5-10 minutes.

9) After soaking for an hour, pour dye out.

10) Rinse in warm water until water is fairly clear.

11) Now put jeans inside-out in washing machine, regular cycle, warm wash, cold rinse, Woolite dark.

12) Do a second rinse before the spin cycle.

13) Dry jeans on low heat setting.

14) Take out jeans when they're still a bit damp (20-30 mins), they will have shrunken considerably so put them on to stretch back out.
