Hawaii: Eating, shopping, surfing in Kauai and Kona

I'm heading to Hawaii (Kona and Kauai) in a couple of weeks, and am looking for recommendations for places to eat, drink and hang out, plus a good surf school (I skate and snowboard, and figure I should add a third plank). Also, any just wacky, crazy, cool stuff to do outside the normal relaxation?

dude you guys, honolulu full of hot japanese chicks downtown, and they have a dutyfee mall to get in you need to show your passport but just stride past them because you have to show your passport again to buy shit there anyways, but great place to hit on fob chicks, visit taylors they have a lot of vintage denim but kinda expensive.
