I went to Tel Aviv & Jerusalem a few years ago; beautiful places with amazing history.

I wouldn't be concerned with shopping at all. If you are, check out the local bazaars, etc. There's no reason to by designer clothes there because they are considerably more expensive than the US or Europe. Spend your time exploring the city and visiting the sites. If you can, make a trip out to the Dead Sea and Masada.

Still no one has any recommendations on nightlife / shopping in Israel? I've been before, but it's mostly been with family / groups... so I haven't had much free time. I'll be going for 3 weeks later this summer, and I'd like a little direction.

I guess I could just ask some Israeli friends... but I figure'd all of you SuFu jetsetters might have some good advice too.

Haha.... it's really not that bad. Definitely not in Tel Aviv. If I was in Haifa last summer, then yeah maybe.

Although, there are talks of war.... but luckily they typically have like 2 or 3 days where all foreigners can evacuate. Cyprus anyone?

For those who thought Israel was just full of guns, bombs, and fundamentalists

Edit: Another cool fact about this beach is that there used to be a Roman fortress built up on the cliffside - that fell about 1000 years the go... so the ruins line the beach.
