HARDCORE SAVED MY LIFE

Recommended Posts

What post exactly are you referring to? Which band?

i was talking about champion...i just felt it was way to planned out to be meaningfully, like dont get me wrong i like youth crew, but i always pictured to champion to be as meaningful as bold, seriously will you join the fight?

to me there was a difference in watching go it alone (and moshing shirtless) and watching champion...go it alone has a level of sincerity i felt lacking in champion.

as for head to the wall, being my brother in the X, i would usually agree with him but seriously...LIFES BLOOD is only second to r kelly and maybe kanye if he complains. The demo and 7 inch are so rough and perfect..to me that sound defines hardcore.

as for some posting about "rice", i hope you have the 7inch with the insert so you can learn to pick the rice...its what all the kids are doing these days.

as for what im currently jamming...

"why dont we cut of your head and we'll call it negative reinforcement, thats how you treat an animal..."

finish it to get rep.

I kinda agree with you on Champion, though I did get psyched once when they covered SSD. As for Lifes Blood, Rorschach just does it for me more, but I can see your side. I'm sure we can agree that Sick of it All could have beaten all of them up.

On a hardcore-related note, I saw Rollins do spoken word the other night and Ian was there.

Edit: Oh, c'mon, surely you like Bold at least a little... Granted, their reunion performances weren't perfect, but Running Like Thieves is a good song.

What bands do you consider "NYHC Toughguy?" I'm curious like Suzie is to the question of "girly hc."

Not ALL NYHC was on some toughguy shit...but I do think we had more than enough of that going on.

more than boston? i think not. straight edge became pathology when it took root in massachusetts.

Yea but being able to outmuscle other heads isn't the point...that logic would make Nore one for legendary Hip Hop status above other's who are way more deserving of the title due to lyrical skill/content (although I do love the man's classic work).

Not that I hate Sick Of It All...but I hope we'd all agree that both bands (Lifes Blood and Rorschach) blow away SOIA on record.

Don't get me wrong...I wasn't shittin on NYHC at all...there's some fantastic shit from the politically-focused side (Reagan's Youth, Born AGainst, the two bands that have been mentioned in my previous posts) and the toughguy side (old Cro-Mags and Agnostic Front, Youth of Today, some other shit I can't recall right now)...and some good shit inbetween (...I like the Beasties).

I don't know too too much about the later Boston scene...just most of the classics.

I was referring to the radio debate they did together.

oh no doubt yo. i'm just saying the most exceedingly tough guy and unnecessarily violent scene wasn't in new york.

by the way, where in the city do you stay?

And I'm not talkin about porn.

I didn't know where else to put this post, so I guess it belongs in "Supershopper"

Since so many of us on here actually have background in the hardcore scene, let's discuss. Favorite bands? 'zines? Labels? where you from? crews and city-wise? ETC ETC

I grew up in the Inland Empire/Orange County hardcore scene, favorite bands were Gorilla Biscuits, Bold, Flagman, Chain of Strength, Youth of Today, Bane, Kiss it Goodbye, 108, Fall Silent, Path of Resistance, Snapcase, Shelter, Zao, Botch, Harkonen, Trial, and Refused, to name a few.

Reppin' PK, which was responsible for members of Burial, daizee, Throwdown, Giveuntilgone, and other southern cali hardcore.

Lookin' back on those years, my favorite thing about the hardcore scene (besides the music) was the unity, direction, the drive and energy, the activism, and political awareness. Ok, I'll let someone else talk now.

thehundreds is huge.

I meant to say SSD...since I totally overlooked the quotage of "straight edge pathology" in your "early Boston bands were great" reply.

...okay that somewhat made sense.

Anyways...MY BOILING POINT!

Get It Away is one of the hardest lps ever imo.

And how sick a track is CHUNKS by Last Rights. Easily my fav Boston song of all time.

Nein, not sure who put it on actually, wasn't one of the usual suspects. Was a fucking shambles though, seems just about every piece of equipment in that venue is broken at the moment.

Comeback Kid/Parkway Drive/This Is Hell/Cancer Bats/The Warriors on Monday. Something tells me I'll be standing at the back drinking a pint when Parkway Drive come on stage somehow.
