Is shrinking of dry / raw denim before wearing important?

Because we all know that dry/raw denim will shrink by around 10% after wash... so if it shrink, all whiskers and honeycombs formed might be out of place after shrinking.... so does it makes good sense to do something to the jeans before wearing? or do people just buy and wear those dry jeans??
