Bicyclettes

This woman at my work has a barely used Bianchi bike from 1987, which apparently cost $750 then (adjusting for inflation, that's almost $1400 now), so I am guessing it was one of their higher end lines, though I am obviously very ignorant about this kind of stuff. I realize it's probably very hard to appraise something like that without knowing what the parts are, but how much could this thing be worth?

Bikes also used to be quite a bit more expensive and out of reach then, so no telling what it's worth w/o knowing what it is.

Ten years prior to that bike, you couldn't get a proper road racing bike without waiting 3-12+ months!

If it has Record components, is a medium-ish size, and is Columbus tubing, possibly over $1000, but it would have to be parted out likely. If none of the above, a few hundred dollars. Bianchi's never have been amazing bikes or anything, some of them were simply made in Italy to ride that alluring catchall.

Cancellara will never win. The only reason he's in yellow is cuz of the time trial. It'd be pretty amazing if Lance could take it at 38, but Contador is probably going to win again.

Anyways, I just picked this up this morning. 1982 Trek.

its been a pretty crazy tour this year -- i was hoping to see andy schleck take it, but after stage twos wreck -- im doubting that will happen. at this point fabian's got the yellow jersey but i dont see him holding onto it for much longer.. im reluctantly betting on contador.

any roadies in here? i've been riding a 1985 panasonic road bike for a while now and im finally picking up a new road bike on friday -- 2009 specialized allez with full shimano 105.. not the fanciest but its a good price and ive heard nothing but good things about the allez frame.

I just sold my '05 Allez. Never had any problems with it at all, I just didn't need that nice of a bike anymore. Plus, I really like the look of traditional bike geometry vs. the "compact" frame with the sloping top tube.

I used to race and ride religiously but dropped it when I went to college.

I like this year's Tour, but it seems a little more dangerous than it should be, the peleton usually gets pretty upset if there's a string of stages with a lot of crashing. Hopefully there's no protesting...

I'm loving that the old, tough big-boy sprinters are having their way and Cav's not getting his train so far. Luck will play a big part in the win this year, Astana's not a strong enough team to bring Contador back to the front if he has bad luck in the future, unlike the teams of other GC favorites.

Yep!

I've cross-posted this so many times, but I need some damn opinions.

I have a second chance offer on a Master X Light frame on ebay for $199. The thing is that the top tube is dented from falling over at the guys home. I have no idea if it's possible to get a hold of some Gilco tubes (doubt it, but will be calling Nova Cycles tomorrow), it would be ideal, but I can settle for any other compatible tubing. Spectrum quoted him no more than $300 to do it, is that a decent price?

Would it be worth it to make a project out of this? I value my teeth.

I wouldn't do it. There's too many complications that can come up from it, and the cost is going to go way up as The Repeater mentioned.

And that looks like it took way more than a spill in some guys living room.

with a dent that bad, there's probably more damage in the down tube and beyond. absolutely not worth it and frankly, fuck that guy for trying to sell it.

-----------------------------------

i have a pair of nike air tiempos that kyle at DQM did last summer in the grey colorway, size 12. i wore them on one short ride of about 2 miles to see if i could stand the small size, but they're just too small. they fit more like a 11-11.5 with the full foot zoom insole. awesome riding shoe.

$50 + trackable freight (about $15 domestic). retailed for over $100.

I don't get the whole kilo sizing.

They know their sizes are bigger than they are... So why not just "re-name" the sizes so they're correct?

I be considerin one, cuz they only what... $220 for a frameset?

With all these fuckers on their fixies nowadays, I don't trust my Cannondale to lock up everywhere...

Esp. with these dumbasses tryin to pick a fight with me.

So I'm totally clueless as to what size to get.

58 Cannondale Track, 165 cranks, Nitto Pearl 8, 6'2", what size I be in dat Kilo???

(cranks, rings, cassette 12-25, brakes, brifters, f/r deraileurs, bottom bracket) - rode this for a few weeks on another frame i bought and just upgraded. light wear to front deraileur and rings, some rub on the non drive crank arm.

2001 Titanium Lemond Tete de Course 57cm frame/fork/headset - $700 shipped

sick titanium frame with reynolds ouzo pro carbon fork, cane creek headset. rode this for about a week with the above group until i realized it was a bit too long in the top tube. custom light blue paint with designs on the top tube and seat tube, although i was planning on stripping it. no chips, some light scuffing, but well taken care of.

Kilo distributors should have geometry chart such as in bikes direct

never seen a cannondale in real life nor can find measurements but you can compare them

my homey is two inches shorter than you, rode a 56 I belive. His choices were a 54 and 58. Are you tired of riding small frame/high seatpost? I'm travelling back in time and only know about that pake you had lol

i think you would be about a 57--or even all the way to a 55?

from experience, i'm a 54 normally and my friends 53 kilo fits pretty well, although i would prefer a little bit more top tube clearance, but the reach is great.

With the influx of douchebags on fixies, I don't/can't trust leaving my bike locked to anything outside for any period of time.

Plus, the threads on my cranks are stripped, so taking them off to repack the bb is a bitch. So a kilo would also be the rainy day bike... I love riding in the rain too...

I ride my cannondale to shit, but it's not something I'd be ok about losing in anyway.

I want a Pista Concept/Super Pista, Cinelli (Mash,) GT or KHS aero, but they'd fall under the same category for me as my cannondale. So they're a no no for the time being.

Plus, the red Kilo is pretty badass looking. I wouldn't feel guilty about dropping it or denting the tubes from my chain.

In the past, my pake was actually big on me. It was a 59.

I over fitted that bike...

59, lots of seat post, 110 -/+ stem... Fuck that shit.

I'd prefer a bike with a shorter top tube, because I could just put a longer stem on. As opposed to a bike with a longer top tube (my first pista,) I put anything from a 60mm stem to a 90, and it still feels too fucking long...

I have short-ish arms.

I'll retake a pic of my Cannondale, the only pics I have are unclear...

WHO STILL RIDES FIXIES???
