Book Recommendations

I really hate to mess up all the classic recommendations, but I just finished a great book by Stephen King's son, Joe Hill. The book of the month for me is Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill.

I'm actually watching (well, I'm surfing SuFu and my roommates are watching) Most Haunted Live and they're investigating the Winchester Mystery House. That totally reminds me that if you want a great ghost story go for Henry James' The Turn of the Screw. Then have Deborah Kerr fuck with you mind in the movie version, The Innocents.

killing yourself to live - chuck klosterman is really good and funny

just finished 1984 just bc i felt it was a book i should read, it was ok but not life changing or anything.

Any james joyce fans? recommendations on what to read first?

i'd say start with dubliners then portrait of the artist then ulysses then start finnegan's wake and pretend that you'll finish it

This may or may not date me, but I read 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance', back in the day, and that shit just blew my mind.

Kundera's "Unbearable Lightness of Being" was also one of those books that make you glad you're reading it. Nothing else of his quite felt that way to me.
