quick thoughts.

-mos def is the greatest rapper out that is making unlistenable albums.

-rza operates on a level where he can put tom jones on a track and it be the hardest shit youve ever heard.

-i must be burning out on ghost cause that track did nothing for me.

-jay z shoulda tapped rick rubin on this album.

-mf doom was a flash in the pan and although he is capable of making amazing music, his gimmick has absorbed him and unless he stops sending imposters to perform for him, he will be forgotten in a year or two.

west you heard about doom getting busted for sending a lookalike to his shows?

i guess any fat black dude in a mask can get away as doom. yo he just lip syncs from behind the maskover a vocal track. at rock the bells he got caught cause he took the mic away from his mouth but the vocals kept going. in san fran about a month ago, shit apparently got hectic and the promoter had to refund everyones ticket cause word got out.

Yeah, madvillian was cool. I like Doom alot, but not as much as his fans. That track is cool, but I liked "The Mask" (off Dangerdoom) more as far a ghost/doom.

The impersonator shit is kinda funny the first time, but ultimately just a bitch move.

Joe Budden interview

Joe is out of Def Jam and Mood Muzik 3 is finally dropping. seems like he really isn't too pissed with Def, which is kind of odd. dunno what really happened there but based on what I've read, they didn't really do anything for him during years so I'd imagine that would piss you off pretty bad.

its okay so far. wont pass judgemnt til i hear it on a better soundsystem, but ddoesnt sound like its on the listenings level.

edit - nevermind. i listened to the album all the wya through then it played the sampler right after, and i was thinking to myself "dam this album is repetitive". that was fucked up.

oh ya. i probably would appreciate something more put together. the 30 minute radio freestyle format kinda fucks up my feel for it cause i zone in and out and proably miss the better parts. if you could throw down an album or some studio tracks, ill probly be more inclined to leave comprehensive feedback.

raised, you live in UK? if so i mgith start asking oyu to do pick ups for me. in exchange i will supply you with anything you need from over here. handjobs included.

Arttists make studio tracks, but "True Grime heads" (read: the RWD forum) hate most studio tracks they make, and decry most of their mixtape efforts as "swag" or "bait hiphop". While this isn't always an accurate assesment, the true meat and potatoes of grime are the Rave, and the radio set. Anyone who is anyone, is anyone, Because of getting reloads in the dance and coming live on the set week after week.

Trim, Skepta, Wiley, Ghetto (one of the best live shows I've seen), Kano (in his prime, he's trash now) Titch (so fucking hype on old sets), Big H (who actually has recorded no more than 5 "songs" in his life), Roadside G's, Ruff Sqwad. These are all people who owe the (modest) level of success they enjoy to the work they put in live.

That's where the energy in grime comes from.

Few Studio Dubs come with that energy. Attempts at formula, or polish work very poorly. When tracks are recorded, the best results come from a hype MC spitting over a recent (but already known by the fans) devistatingly good production that gets reloads in the rave.

The early Roll Deep CD series Creeper vols. 1-5 are one of the better examples I can think of, with the full roster of MC's spitting over decently recorded and engineered (mostly in house) productions.

I'll try and get some of these up for you, as well as mixtapes by the few artists who make them worhtwhile (frisco, devlin, and again Trim come to mind), but if you want to get into grime, you might have to be alittle more forgiving with the format choice.

Thanks for the feedback though.

More soon come.

Def Jam signs Jadakiss. let's hope they push him hard. been waiting too long for some new, official Jada.

Jada will never make a good album, despite the fact that he has one of the dopest most crack cocainest voices ever to grace the mic.

When I was 18....D block was smacking the mixtapes up so hard man. I used to go see my African man on 30th ave like once or twice a week and cop 5 for 20, which was usually turned into one high quality 90 minute Maxell tape (that's right, TAPE) Ahhh...I miss them ways there.

Who remembers those first Gunit tapes with the weakest cover art and shit. Made that fat fuck Big Mike's career right there.

Saccario, Graph, Young jae Hood, Heat, Littles, Shellz (hahahahah), Young Corey Gunz, Lazy, Trini don????

Milk Carton Status now. Except for Littles, but he's in the box, and the records he makes now are trash regardless.

Gotta dig out the tape box...
