i'd say just accept the stains as part of the aging process......how bad is it? is it that nudie wallet? need pics.....

if you are really desperate.....as a last resort......maybe you could use a deglazer to remove the stains (along with the leather dye itself), and then re-dye it? of course i've never done it so caveat emptor.

I generally welcome any stains as part of the wear process, whether it be boots, jeans, wallets, underwear, etc. I am just interested to see what kind of revitalization I can give the Nudie wallet, because I don't foresee myself wearing it anymore, so I am tossing around the idea of selling it, or trying to get my girlfriend or brother to use it for awhile. Here are a couple pics before I started working on it.

Hah! Indigo! I went through this with my 875s. I called Red Wings and also Jim's Shoe Repair. They both said that indigo is one of the worst stains you can have. I took them to Jim's, and they were able to make a small dent in the color, maybe getting 20% out. The receptionist told me they use a regular soap. This is probably beyond Obenauf's or saddle soap. I might experiment using acetone nail polish remover, or Afta, the stuff that guy in Port Authority ruined by shell coro Leeds with. It worked really well for removing all the gloss from them!! But then you'll have to do a lot to re-surface the leather, almost like tanning, burnishing and polishing all over again.

fre$co:

look very good, dont you also have another trickers?

worn only 25 times and the side has already been creased, nice, mine look harder to break........dont know why

What model do you have? Stow is made thinner dress shoe leather and for example Malton is made from heavier leather.

EDIT: fre$co, those are beautiful, as are the rest of the shoes in the last few pages!

I'm a movie buff, see several a day, have seen about 70,000 movies. I like about everything except horror. I like culture-clash movies, as well as movies about dancing, sports, competitions. But I like tons of other stuff too,

how old are you? a person can't physically watch 70,000 movies in a lifetime

70000 movies ~= 140000 hours ~= 6000 days ~= 16 years without sleeping and eating ~= 32 years with sleeping and eating, but no school or work

mrswitch - yeah that has about the best dancing, I hope they do a part 2

designersheep -- Hah! old enough, and I ain't telling! I don't watch TV, but only movies. So figure 2-4 movies every day for most of my life, plus I'm counting the ones I watch only part-way and then stop out of boredom. I used to be a film critic. So this movie thing happens during eating and always during homework back in school, and I get less sleep than I should!

Anyone have any experience with Nick's Custom Boots brand? I went to the only local White's dealer near me and he carried only 2 brands, White's and Nick's. He said Nick's was founded by a long-time White's lastmaker and is located across the street from White's in Spokane. The quality and materials looked identical to White's, but they seem to be more hardcore, they don't carry any kind of casual or semi-dress equivalent. However, they are cheaper, $330 for a 10" canted-heel high arch vibram double sole calf leather ranger.

Hewsinator - I estimate based on the fact of how many I see each day, and how long it's been going on. It's no big deal, it comes into focus only when I'm trying to find stuff on Netflix and at my local Blockbuster! I don't remember all that I see, so I see a lot again, forgetting I saw them before.

Tarmac - We talked about Nick's once before about a year ago. Never knew the connection to White's. Wish they had a 6" or something like the semi dress or the Beckman....

Did anyone else catch the Cat's Paws reference in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford"? Or was that just a reference to how light he crept up on him?

Didn't see the movie. But Cat's Paw has several other meanings, including the metaphircal one of being a tool like Mussolini.

^thats interesting, never heard it before.

Yeah, I emailed them and asked if I could have that lighter colour (acorn antique?) Stow with commando sole and they told me my better choice would be Malton which is made from thicker "coarse calf" leather instead of "dress shoe" leather -more suitable for Finnish winter. Some other boots were made from this coarse calf as well.

I noticed that too, but I thought it was a reference to how quiet he was. If it had something about not slipping, then it would be a different story.
